'Fiddler' comes to Manalapan

MANALAPAN - The classic Broadway musical "Fiddler on the Roof" will be presented by students of the Manalapan Englishtown Middle School, Millhurst Road, at 7 p.m. May 16-18. Tickets will be available at the door.

MEMS' version of "Fiddler on the Roof" is being directed by Maryann Tym, who has directed many productions at the school, including "Seussical," "Guys and Dolls," "State Fair," "Grease" and many others.

The show's assistant director is eighth grade math teacher Janine Tempone, who has assisted Tym in directing may of the MEMS musicals. Vicki Trerotola has donated her time to choreographing a lovely show.

"Fiddler on the Roof" is set in the small Russian village of Anatevka and follows the lives of Tevye (Bryan Scuteri), Golde (Melissa Silano) and their five daughters while they survive under the harsh rule of the Tsar.

The story's underlying serious attitude is offset by the love entanglements of the three eldest daughters, Tzteitle (Alexia Lafata), Hodel (Sami Citro) and Chava (Megan Vaccaro); and their "boyfriends" Motel (Kevin Kemler), Perchik (Seth Weintraub), and Fyedka (David Manoukian).

The two youngest daughters (Kristen Marley and Cassidy Rosenblatt) along with Yente the Matchmaker (Anna Krymchenskyaya) and Lazar Wolfe (Vinny Chakrodhor) make for a wonderful presentation of this enduring classic
