Sophie Layton

Mrs. Layton, 85, of Freehold, died April 16, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had resided in Freehold all her life. Prior to retiring, she worked for the A&M Karagheusian rug mill, Freehold. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Layton was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Herbert Layton, in 1994, as well as two brothers, Stanley and Donald Kazlauskis. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph J. and Lorri Layton of Basking Ridge; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and William Callahan and Nancy and Mike Dmyterko, all of Howell, and Janet and George Spaloss of Jackson; a sister, Alice Lamont of Freehold; close friend Catherine Gawron of Freehold; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

Raymond Frank

Mr. Frank, 81, of Toms River, died April 6, 2007, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in the West Farms area of Howell, he had lived in Freehold from 1930 to 1982. Mr. Frank was a painting and decorating contractor in Monmouth County before retiring in 1958. He attended Freehold Borough schools and graduated from the New York School of Interior Design. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a tech sergeant stationed in the Philippines and served in the 541 Parachute Infantry Regiment. Mr. Frank was predeceased by a son, Randal Joseph Frank, in 1991; a sister, Catherine Amatao, in 2002; and a brother, Herbert H. Frank Sr., in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Minnie Kurman Frank; a son, Raymond Gustave Frank of East Brunswick; two brothers, Kenneth Frank of Freehold and Harvey H. Frank of Avon; and two granddaughters. Services were held at Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River, followed by burial at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Pasquale J. "Pat" Fimiani

Mr. Fimiani, 88, of Freehold, died April 12, 2007. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had resided in Fair Lawn, Whiting and Freehold before moving to Wayne. Mr. Fimiani owned and operated a newsstand at 42nd Street and Madison Avenue in New York City for 68 years prior to his retirement in 1985. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 0502 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8745, both in Whiting. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Valchiria Gili; two brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by a son, Phillip; a daughter, Catherine; a step-daughter, Jean Tahan; a brother, Anthony; and 11 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church, Bloomfield, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown. The Allwood Funeral Home, Clifton, was in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis F. Fantasia Hansen

Mrs. Hansen, 59, of Eatontown, died April 10, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, she resided in the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge 25 years, prior to relocating to Eatontown three years ago. She was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was employed at Eastern Dental, Parlin, for three years. She was a former communicant of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Laurence Harbor. She is survived by three daughters, Erica Salicco of Howell, Christina Hansen of Old Bridge, and Donna Hansen of Eatontown; a son, Wally Hansen of Eatontown; a brother, Albert J. Fantasia of Las Vegas; and a grandson. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Gladys Wickham

Mrs. Wickham, 75, of Jackson, died April 6, 2007. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Nicolasa and Francisco Maldonado, she grew up in Brooklyn and had lived in Hazlet, Kentucky, Japan and Newark before settling in Jackson in 1956. She moved to Starke, Fla., in 2002 for a brief stay and then returned to Jackson to rejoin her growing family. Mrs. Wickham held positions at several companies, including RCA, Westinghouse and Paco Manufacturing. She retired in 1997 from her husband's construction business, A-All-In-One Services, Jackson. She served as president of both the Cassville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the AMVETS Post 2 Ladies Auxiliary, as well as den mother to Cub Scouts Pack 28, all of Jackson. She was also a member of the Jackson and New Jersey Jayceettes. Mrs. Wickham was predeceased by two sisters, Ramona and Jeanette. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Kenneth G. Wickham Sr.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenneth Jr. and Jan Wickham, Keith Wickham, and Kevin and Susan Wickham, all of Jackson; a sister, Frances of Freehold; a brother, Robert of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; seven grandchildren, along with two of their spouses; six great-grandchildren, with a seventh on the way; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Jackson, with the procession to Cassville Cemetery led by the Cassville Volunteer Fire Company.

John J. Tesoriero

Mr. Tesoriero, 79, of Manalapan, died April 12, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in New York City, he had lived there before moving to Manalapan 13 years ago. He graduated from Columbia University, New York City, and was a supervisor at John Wiley & Sons Inc. publishing company, New York City, for many years. He was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. Mr. Tesoriero was predeceased by a brother, Frank. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Claire of Manalapan; a sister-in-law, Catherine Tesoriero of Long Island, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church. Interment was private. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

Jean Agrillo

Mrs. Agrillo, 56, of Jackson, died April 14, 2007, after battling cancer. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in New Jersey since 1985 and in Jackson since 1987. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption, New Egypt section of Plumsted. Mrs. Agrillo was predeceased by her father, Raymond Powderly. Surviving are her husband, Leo Agrillo; a daughter, Laura Jean; her mother, Jean Powderly of Brooklyn; a sister, Debra Lamberti of Dix Hills, N.Y.; a brother, James Powderly of the Morganville section of Marlboro; a niece, Dana Lamberti; and two nephews, Anthony and Raymond Lamberti. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, with the Rev. Joseph Farrell officiating. Interment followed at Assumption Cemetery, New Egypt. Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Assumption Building Fund, 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt 08533; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368-2454.

Daniel J. McNamee

Mr. McNamee, 71, of Howell, died April 2, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in New York City, he moved to Howell in 1973. Mr. McNamee was a parishioner of The Church of St. Veronica, Howell. He was a custodian with the Freehold Regional School District for 16 years where he was the union president for Region No. 9 New Jersey Education Association, Long Branch. Prior to that, he was an armed security guard with Brinks until 1984. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Coyle, in 1986. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Lucy McNamee; four sons, Brian McNamee and his wife, Roni, of Brick; Neal McNamee of Jackson and his companion, Joan; Daniel McNamee of Freehold Township and his fiancée, Jenifer; and Dermot McNamee and his wife, Stacy, of Howell; two daughters, Elizabeth Oldham and her husband, Rich, of Jackson; and Maura Emery and her husband, Ryan, of Garnet Valley, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Bernie Coyle; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
