Veterans hospital should remain open at fort I want to draw your attention to the excellent work Freeholder Lillian Burry has been doing for Monmouth County residents. We are very fortunate to have a fighter like Freeholder Burry, who, as the designated Fort Monmouth Economic Revital-ization Planning Authority liaison, has vehemently opposed the closing of the veterans hospital inside Fort Monmouth. If the state decides this worthwhile hospital facility must close and a new one built elsewhere, this needed facility for Monmouth County residents will be gone forever. We cannot let this happen. We owe it to the many veterans who have fought for our freedom and liberty worldwide to keep this facility open right here in Monmouth County. I am asking that you stand alongside Freeholder Burry and do whatever you can to keep our veterans hospital open and operational. Please write your legislators and especially Gov. Corzine. We live in an era where these types of facilities cannot be taken for granted. We need only look at the recent exposé and the nightmare conditions at Walter Reed medical facility in Washington, D.C. We certainly do not want unfunded medical facilities left to decay in Monmouth County. Let's stand side by side with Freeholder Burry and fight to keep our county's veterans hospital functioning and operational.
