First Avenue Playhouse will hold auditions for its July production of Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs" April 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. at the playhouse, 123 First Ave., Atlantic Highlands. Youth Stages is seeking to add new actor-educators to the roster of professionals available to conduct creative drama and theater classes, workshops and residencies throughout the state. Specifically needed are actor-educators who can teach after-school classes (3:30-4:30 p.m.) for elementary-age children in the Central Jersey area. Yardley Players will hold auditions for "The Sound of Music" April 21-22 from noon to 5 p.m. at Mercer County Community College, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor. All roles are open. The cast includes the seven Von Trapp children, ages 7-20, who must possess strong singing, dancing and acting ability. A large cast of adults is also sought. There will be a dance audition for all adults and children, and a reading from the script for those interested in principal roles. A recent photo and current résumé are requested. The Premier Theatre Company will hold auditions for its 2007 summer season, including productions of "West Side Story" and "The Music Man." Auditions for both shows will be held at the Henderson Theater, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Adult and teen auditions are scheduled for May 17 and May 18 at 7 p.m., and May 19 at 1 p.m. Grade-school children will be auditioned separately on May 19 at 10 a.m. All auditioners are required to bring a maximum of 16 bars of music, up-tempo preferred, and must also be prepared to dance if necessary.
