Easter play to be presented

MARLBORO - The Upper Room Players of the Monmouth Worship Center will present their fifth annual production of "Very Early in the Morning," a passion play for the Easter season.

The play will be performed at the Mon-mouth Worship Center, Route 79, on March 31 at 7:30 p.m., April 1 at 6:30 p.m., and April 6 at 8 p.m.

"Very Early in the Morning" is an original play and is strictly based on the gospels. The play has an emotional impact on the audience members as they become witnesses to a living re-enactment of the Last Supper, the Walk Along the Way of Tears, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The play is directed by Susan Porter, of Englishtown, and Tiffany Allen, of Free-hold Township.

The role of Jesus Christ is played by Troy Davis, of Jackson; Mary, mother of Jesus, will be played by Gwen Diakos, of Manasquan; Mary Magdalene will be played by Ursula Trojcak, of Monroe; Denis McKeown, of Englishtown, will play the role of Judas; Pontius Pilate will be played by Ed Mauer, of Freehold; Pastor Davi Bucci, of Marlboro, will play the role of Herod; and Death will be played by Greg Vaccaro, of Manalapan. A special vocal performance of "Via Dela Rosa" will be given by Madelyn Rivera, of Sayreville.

Tickets and reservations are not required and there is no charge to see the play. A nursery is provided free for children 5 and younger. For further information call the church office at (732) 332-9600.
