Seminar set for new buyers of race horses

The Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey will host a new owners seminar on April 21, at Freehold Raceway, Park Avenue, Freehold, for anyone considering the first-time purchase of a race horse.

Topics will include the costs, risks and rewards of harness racing as well as how to select a trainer and a race horse. The program will begin at 11 a.m. and is free, although preregistration is required.

Participants will receive a one-year subscription to the harness racing industry magazine "Hoof Beats" and a $25 credit for the U.S. Trotting Association's online database, Pathway.

To register or for more information, call the seminar hotline at (866) 417-4644 or send e-mail to newowners@sboanj.com. Information can also be found under the "new owners" link on the SBOA's Internet Web site at www.sboanj.com.
