The Cyclones boys gymnastics team from Monmouth Gymnastics Academy, Morganville, competed at the fourth annual Temple University Invitational in Philadelphia, where they dominated the competition. The Level 7 and Level 6 teams won the first-place team awards, he Level 10 team placed second, and the Level 5 team was third.

In Level 5 age 7, Evan Hymanson placed ninth in the all-around (51.5), was second on rings, fourth on floor exercise and vault, ninth on high bar, and 10th on parallel bars.

In Level 5 age 8, Parker Adamo placed sixth in the AA (54.75), fifth on floor, sixth on rings, seventh on p-bars and high bar, eighth on vault and ninth on pommel horse.

Daniel Mizrachi placed eighth in the AA (52.25), seventh on rings and ninth on floor for the Cyclones.

Michael Luca placed eighth on p-bars and 10th on pommel, and Jimmy Rush placed 10th on high bar.

T.J. Orrico also competed.

In Level 5 age 12-plus, Damian Jardot was second in the AA (53.55) and finished first on rings and p-bars, second on floor and high bar, and third on pommel.

In Level 6 age 10, Chris Graff was second in the AA (54.3), won the floor exercise, and was third on pommel, fourth on high bar, fifth on pommel and p-bars, and 10th on vault.

Joseph Luca was fourth in the AA (53.7), third on pommel and p-bars, fifth on rings, and ninth on floor, vault and high bar.

Willie Barron placed ninth in AA (50.05), first on vault, and fourth on floor.

In Level 6 age 12-plus, Michael Cefalu placed fourth on vault, fifth on p-bars and seventh on pommel.

Emanuel Fradkin placed second in the AA (53.85), was first on the vault, second on p-bars and high bar, third on pommel, and fourth on floor and rings for the MGA boys in Level 7 age 10 competition.

Michael Egna placed fifth in the AA (50.90), third on vault, fifth on floor, p-bars, high bar, sixth on rings, and ninth on pommel.

Mikael Khachatryan placed 10th in the AA (47.2), third on rings, and 10th on pommel and high bar.

In Level 7 age 11, Akash Modi cleaned house, winning the AA (55.3), floor, pommel, vault and p-bars, and placing second on rings and fourth on high bar.

Matthew Mannino placed ninth on high bar, and 10th on vault and p-bars.

In Level 7 age 12-plus, Anthony Maita placed second in the AA (52.65), first on floor, p-bars, fourth on pommel, fifth on rings, sixth on high bar and ninth on vault.

In Level 10 ages 14-15, Ikaika Jakub placed fourth in the AA (43.3), first on p-bars, second on pommel and floor, sixth on high bar, eighth on rings, and ninth on vault.

In Level 10 ages 16-18, Steven Crabtree placed fourth in the AA (45.0), first on high bar, second on p-bars, fourth on rings and eighth on floor.

Pierce Goldsmith placed seventh in the AA (43.3), fifth on floor and rings, sixth on p-bars and eighth on vault.

Joseph Yellin also competed for the Cyclones at this level.

The Colts Neck third grade boys basketball team enjoyed an outstanding travel season. The boys won the Monmouth Youth League as well as tournaments in Millstone, Marlboro and Colts Neck. They finished second in the fourth-grade tournament held in Berkeley.

Colts Neck defeated Marlboro, 39-24, in the Monmouth Youth League title game.

Overall, the boys sported a 24-2 record. The team consisted of Joseph Gargana, Patrick Andree, James Geraghty, Lloyd Daniels, Josh Martinez, Shane McGuiness, Thomas O'Reilly, Jordan DeGroot, Michael Wilen, Brandon Yukto, Timmy Cavarak, Christopher Greco and Christopher Laresca. Tom O'Reilly is the coach.

Manalapan Parks and Recreation is accepting registration for the spring 2007 youth street and roller hockey programs. This registration is open to children presently in grades K through 12. The street hockey program is open to boys and girls presently in grades K-2 only. Roller hockey is open to boys and girls presently in grades K-12. The resident fee for street hockey is $30 each for the first two in a family and $15 each additional. Roller hockey resident fee is $75 per child each for the first two in a family and $38 each additional. Nonresidents add $10 per registration. All new registrants must show a copy of their birth certificate. All fees are nonrefundable.

Participants must supply their own sneakers or skates, HECC-approved hockey helmet with mask, gloves, shin guards, elbow and knee pads, mouth piece, protective supporter, cup and long pants and shoulder pads. Hockey pants or girdle for roller hockey are required to participate in the roller hockey program.

Registrations are accepted at the Manalapan Parks and Recreation office, located in the Manalapan Municipal Complex, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration fees include instructional clinics offered during the season. A $15 late fee will be assessed for registrations received beginning March 19.

The league will run from late March through June (weather permitting). All league games will be played on week nights. Weekends are used for make-up games and special events. The program takes place at the Manalapan Recreation Center hockey rinks. Those chosen for travel games will be responsible for traveling to neighboring towns.

Volunteers are needed as coaches, assistant coaches and team parents. For more information or a mail-in registration, contact the Recreation office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at (732) 446-8355.

Freehold Pop Warner will hold open registration March 16 from 6-9 p.m., and March 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Michael J. Tighe Park Activity Center. Registration is open to Freehold Township and Freehold Borough residents ages 5-6 for flag football and cheer, ages 7-15 for tackle football and cheer as of July 31, 2006. Registration fees for flag football are $75 per child plus a $25 work bond deposit per family. Registration fees for tackle programs are $200 first child, $150 second child, and $100 for each additional child, plus a $70 work bond deposit per family. Work bonds are refundable when commitments are fulfilled. Each family is required to support fundraising by selling $70 in raffle tickets. Scholarships are available for registration fees based on need. Any registration after April 1 is subject to a $50 late fee. Tackle football players must be present at registration for weigh-in. New participants must provide proof of residency and a copy of the birth certificate. All participants must bring proof of insurance and a wallet-size photograph.
