Frances Donowitz

Frances Entin Donowitz, 90, of Freehold, died Jan. 31, 2007. She immigrated from Russia to Montreal, Canada, in 1930 and moved to Freehold in 1940, where she lived for 66 years. She contributed to the Freehold community, particularly related to the Monmouth County Library System. She served as the leader of a citizens group that presented the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders with a petition signed by 15,000 citizens, which led to the construction of the largest public library building in the state of New Jersey. She was predeceased by her husband, Saul, in 1997. She is survived by two sons, Mark and Gerald; a daughter, Arlene; two daughters-in-law, Jacqueline and Peggie; a son-in-law, J.R. Clark; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
