Diana Picerno

Mrs. Picerno, 64, of Colts Neck, died Feb. 9, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she had resided in Freehold Township for 16 years before moving to Colts Neck 21 years ago. Mrs. Picerno graduated from Wagner College, Staten Island, N.Y., and earned a master's degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York. For the past 30 years she was a teacher in the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District, where in 2005 she was named Teacher of the Year. She was also selected for "Who's Who in Teaching." Mrs. Picerno is survived by her husband, Albert N. Picerno; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Lia Picerno; two daughters, Noelle and Alexis Picerno; and a grandson, James Daniel Picerno. A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Colts Neck, with Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey, 1034 Salem Road, Union 07083-7058.
