Helen Chomko Daly

Mrs. Daly, 87, of Verplanck, N.Y., died Feb. 10, 2007, at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, Peekskill, N.Y. Born in Bayonne, she had resided in Englishtown before moving to New York State. Mrs. Daly was a graduate of the Monmouth Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Long Branch. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps for three years during World War II, the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Following her military service, she was a registered nurse at the New Franklin Delano Roosevelt Veterans Home in Montrose, N.Y. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown. Mrs. Daly was predeceased by her husband, Edward Daly, in 1976, as well as four brothers, Michael, Samuel, John and Harry Chomko, and a sister, Ann Burdge. She is survived by a daughter, Nora Daly, and a brother, Joseph Chomko. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
