Minnie Conover Hobbely

Mrs. Hobbely, 78, of Freehold, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Bartley Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation, Jackson. She was born to Ruth Ann and Howard Conover on Oct. 14, 1928, in the Millhurst section of Manalapan. A lifelong resident of Manalapan, she was known throughout the Freehold community. She attended grade school in Millhurst and attended Freehold High School, Freehold Borough, as well. Prior to retiring, she was employed by the Solomon Box Co., Matawan. She was a communicant of the St. James A.M.E. Church in the Woodsville section of Manalapan and was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included fishing, swimming and playing bingo. Mrs. Hobbely helped rear several of her younger siblings along with her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Hobbely, in 1994. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Robinson of Pennsylvania, and George F. and Susan Robinson of Minneapolis; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Conover of Indianapolis, Joseph Conover of Asbury Park, and David and Rose Conover of Lakewood; a brother-in-law, Ralph Wilson of Asbury Park; and three sisters-in-law, Sylvia Mitchell and Arcia Hobdy, both of Chicago, and Otharene Conover of Panama City, Fla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives. Funeral services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Higgins Memorial Home, Free-hold, was in charge of arrangements.
