Students to stage 'Seussical' MARLBORO - The Marlboro High School Drama Club will perform "Seus-sical," a musical based on the beloved stories of Dr. Seuss, March 9-11. A treat for the entire family, the whimsical production opens with the Cat in the Hat inviting the audience members to explore their imaginations with the type of "Thinks You Can Think." The Cat in the Hat, played by junior Philip Mazzara, stirs things up and causes trouble, but always sets things right again, helping the audience members to discover the power of their own imagination. Characters the audience members will meet along the way include Horton the Elephant (senior Wayne Scheck), who is trying to save the Whos; the troublesome Mayzie LaBird (senior Alexandra Renzetti); the Mayor of Whoville (junior Adam Pestreich); the mayor's wife Mrs. Mayor (senior Lauren Marangiello); and their son JoJo (freshman Rachel Gold-stein). Other characters include Miss Gertrude McFuzz (senior Ann Marie DelGuidice), who is very self-conscious about her one-feather tail; the Sour Kangaroo (junior Alexandra Tritto), an inhabitant of the Jungle of Nool; and General Ghengis Kahn Schmitz (senior Jordan Firestein), who runs a military academy. "Not only does this play dazzle the audience with colorful costumes and memorable songs, it also shares a great message of commitment, friendship and unconditional love," said English teacher and drama adviser Alison Bender. Bender said "Seussical" is a fun production that "only a Grinch could dislike." The curtain will go up at 7:30 p.m. March 9-10. On March 11 the performance will begin at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door of Marlboro High School, Route 79.
