Obituaries Virginia Chambers Gravener Virginia E. Chambers Gravener, 98, died Jan. 5, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem, Pa. Born in Florence on Aug. 21, 1908, she was a former resident of Windsor, Tennent section of Manalapan, and Hamilton Square. For the last 11 years, she had resided on Sanibel Island, Fla., and Wellfleet, Mass. Mrs. Chambers was a registered nurse and had graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1930. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Freehold, and was active in its Altar Guild, and a member of Grace-St. Paul Episcopal Church of Mercerville. She was predeceased by her husband, George J. A. Chambers. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Margery Chambers of Sanibel Island, Fla., and Wellfleet, Mass.; two brothers, Arthur and Russell Gravener, both of Florence; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Florence. Interment took place in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of The Dennison Funeral Home, Florence. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Stephen's Church, P.O. Box 365, Florence 08518; or to Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat St., Americus, GA 31709-3498. Mary Pearson Mrs. Pearson, 85, of Freehold Township, died Jan. 21, 2007, at home. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Old Bridge for 38 years before moving to Freehold Township three years ago. Prior to retiring in 1989, she was a cup tester at the former Lily Tulip paper-cup company, Holmdel, for 10 years. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She was also a member of the Silvermead Community Club, Freehold Township, and the Old Bridge Birthday Club. Mrs. Pearson was predeceased by her husband, Walter G., in 1993, as well as a brother, Thomas Brock, and a sister, Margaret Quoos. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Diana Pearson of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Raymond and Karen Pearson of Billings, Mont.; a brother, Frank Brock of Freehold Township; three sisters, Claire Brock of Freehold Township, Viola Fischer of Middletown and Catherine Clapp of Yarmouth Port, Mass.; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by entombment at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum. The Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, was in charge of arrangements. John Randall "Randy" Boulton Mr. Boulton, 48, of Sayreville, died Jan. 29, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Huntington, W. Va., he resided in Sayreville the past 22 years. He was a self-employed painting contractor and owner of B & W Painting the past 15 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Andrea Giammarinaro; his children, triplets John Joseph, Nicholas Nathaniel and Mary Ann Marie, and Randall James, all at home; his mother, Mary Ann Wolf of Manalapan; two brothers, David Boulton of Parlin, and Greg Wolf of Red Bank; and a sister, Virginia Brody of North Caldwell. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victories Church. Entombment was at St. John's Cloister at St. John's Cemetery, Queens, N.Y. Arrangements were by Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Claire Skinner Mrs. Skinner, 90, of Manalapan, died Jan. 27, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Jersey City and moved to Manalapan 36 years ago. Prior to retiring 24 years ago, she was a jewelry department manager for many years at Two Guys department store in Manalapan. Mrs. Skinner was predeceased in 2003 by her husband, Harry Skinner. Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Crandall of Manalapan; a brother, George Homberger of Jamesburg; a sister, Ann MacLachlan of Toms River; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by interment at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden. Charles Van Schoick Jr. Charles "Buster" W. Van Schoick Jr., 88, of Howell, died Jan. 28, 2007, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Lincroft. He was a lifelong resident of Howell. Before his retirement in 1975, Mr. Van Schoick was a dairy farmer and also grew sweet corn. He was a founding member of the Squankum Star Club and was an avid hunter. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Lee Van Schoick, in 1943. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Van Schoick of Howell; a son, Charles W. Van Schoick III of Howell; two daughters, Marie E. Miller of Howell and Sandra M. Schrieder of Jackson; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Harriet Guice of Brick. Services were held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale. Carlee Alyse Wines Carlee Alyse Wines, 19, of Manalapan, died Jan. 22, 2007, at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Conn. Born in Red Bank, she was a lifelong resident of Manalapan. Carlee was a freshman at Connecticut University, Storrs, Conn., majoring in prekinesiotology. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Carlee was a 2006 Manalapan High School graduate, where she was a member of the cheerleading squad; vice president of the Student Council; 2006 homecoming queen; a member of the lacrosse Team; and a member of the National Honor Society. Surviving are her father and stepmother, Stephen and Donna Gaeta Wines of Brick; her mother and stepfather, Pamela Wines and Kevin O'Sullivan of Manalapan; two brothers, Shaughn and Casey Wines; paternal grandparents, James and Maureen Wines, Robert and Gail Martin; and maternal grandparents, Thomas and Janet Pope, and Frank Gaeta and Mary O'Sullivan. He was born in Pittsburgh. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Duquesne University and his master's degree from Penn State University. He taught at North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Bellafonte Junior High School in Pennsylvania, City of Plainfield public schools in Union County, and the Freehold Regional High School, from which he retired in 1980. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Heim was a member of St. Stephen's Church and had served as a Eucharistic minister and a lector. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Marie Hrabak, in 2003, and seven siblings. He is survived by two sons, Karl Heim, and Mark Heim and his wife, Catherine, all of Oil City; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Regina Heim of Pittsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph Church. Interment took place in Virginia. Bernadette B. Severe Mrs. Severe, 77, of Matawan, died Feb. 2, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Paterson. Born in Grand Saline, Haiti, she resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., before relocating to Matawan 16 years ago. Mrs. Severe was a self-employed dress designer, retiring in 1993. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, and a member of the Haitian Apostola Christian Prayer Group, Brooklyn. She was predeceased by three brothers and a sister. She is survived by her husband, Gerard Severe of Aberdeen; two daughters, Dr. Monique Severe of Freehold and Dr. Geralda Severe of Fairport, N.Y.; and two sons, Jacques Severe of Aberdeen and Louis Severe of Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph's Church. Entombment will be Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at the church's cemetery. Arrangements are by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Caterina Ricchiari Ms. Ricchiari, 71, of Manalapan, died Jan. 29, 2007, at her brother's home in Old Bridge. Born in Palermo, Italy, she had lived in the Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan more than 30 years ago. Before her retirement, Ms. Ricchiari was a seamstress for the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, New York City. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Joan Ricchiari of Old Bridge; a niece, Jean; and a nephew, Dom. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, followed by entombment at St. Gabriel's Mausoleum, Marlboro. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. Kristine B. Sarte Mrs. Sarte, 49, of Freehold, died Jan. 27, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Cory, Pa., she was raised in Marion, N.Y., and had lived in Dover, Clifton and Helmetta before settling in Freehold in 1994. Mrs. Sarte received a bachelor's degree in music education from Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester, N.Y., where she majored in piano and minored in voice. Besides being a homemaker, she worked as a pharmacy technician for CVS Pharmacy in Manalapan and was also a substitute teacher for Freehold Township schools. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and an active member of its choir. In addition, she volunteered as an accompanying pianist for many of the Freehold school choirs. Surviving are her husband of 19 years, Jesus Sarte; a son and a daughter, Jason and Julie Sarte, both at home; her parents, the Rev. Russell and Ruth Johnson of Russell, Pa.; a brother, Bruce Johnson of Philadelphia; two sisters, Karen Marsh of Rochester, N.Y., and Linnea MacMillan of Vernon; her mother-in-law, Julieta Sarte of Old Bridge; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and many cousins. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Rose of Lima Choir, 16 McLean St., Freehold 07728. Patrick Daley Patrick H. Daley, 41, of Brick, died Jan. 22, 2007, at Ocean County Medical Center at Brick. Born in Neptune, he had lived most of his life in Howell before moving to Brick 14 years ago. He was a former coach for a girls' softball league in Brick, a former member of the Howell BPO Elks, and an avid sports fan. Mr. Daley had been the circulation manager for the Asbury Park Press and the Star-Ledger, prior to becoming disabled in 2004. He was predeceased by his wife, Diana, in 2001, and his father, William, in 2006. Surviving are a daughter, Amanda Marie Daley of Brick; his mother, Joyce Daley of Freehold Township; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Timothy Daley of Freehold Township; and William and Elaine Daley of Tinton Falls; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marta and Al Schwank of Ocean Township; three sisters-in-law, Brenda, Christine and Anna; and four nephews. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment at Adelphia Cemetery, Adelphia. Joseph Robert Ham Joseph Robert Ham, 86, of Manalapan, died Jan. 29, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in New Bern, N.C., he lived most of his life in the Englishtown-Freehold area. He was a custodian for the Freehold Borough public school system for 26 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold. Mr. Ham was predeceased by a son, Peter Ham; four sisters; and a brother. He is survived by his wife, Alma Ham; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and his Lisa Ham; 10 daughters and six sons-in-law, Gladys and William Taylor, Christine and Billy Hollingsworth, Barbara Araya, Helene and Douglas Townsend, Deborah and David Whitt, Lorraine Ham, Sandra Ham, Fonda and Gerardo Alfano, Trina and Raymond Majewski, and Nicole Robinson; 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Arrangements were by Anderson Funeral Service, New Brunswick. Burial took place at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.
