Obituaries Jacqueline J. (Kreamer) Kearns Mrs. Kearns, 83, of Jackson, died Jan. 15, 2007, at home. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Cliffwood before moving to Jackson two years ago. Mrs. Kearns was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sharon Kearns of Bath, Pa., and William and Dian Kearns of Freehold; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim O'Donnell of Jackson; a sister, Alma Klein of Holmdel; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Day Funeral Home, Keyport, followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, also Keyport. Barbara Bennett Mrs. Bennett, 60, of Farmingdale, died Jan. 17, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was born in Neptune and was a lifelong resident of Farmingdale. Prior to retiring in 1991, she was an office manager for Culligan Water, Freehold, for more than 20 years. She was predeceased by her father, George Bosko, in 1981. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Christine Fary and Donna and Russell Cook, all of Farmingdale; her mother, Ann Bosko, also of Farmingdale; a brother, John Bosko of Freehold; a sister, Georgiann Halligan of North Carolina; two granddaughters, Jenna and Allyson Fary; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Interment will take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Jamesburg. Memorial donations may be made to Hands of Hope, P.O. Box 364, Farmingdale 07727. Maryjane Grotyohann Mrs. Grotyohann, 75, of Lakewood, died Jan. 14, 2007, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in Philadelphia, she resided in the Lincroft section of Middletown, prior to relocating to Lakewood eight years ago. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Red Bank. She enjoyed needle crafts, and quilting. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur G.; and a brother, Philip H. Lauer. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Greg and Patty Grotyohann of Southern Shores, N.C., and Kurt Grotyohann of Freehold Township; a daughter, Beth DeMartino of Tinton Falls; a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore W. and Janice Lauer of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; and two granddaughters. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Charles H. Baylis Mr. Baylis, 83, of Englishtown, died Jan. 15, 2007, in University Medical Center at Princeton. His wife, Theresa Baylis, died in 1989. Surviving are his companion, Doris Kisieleski of Englishtown; a son, Randal Baylis of Monroe; two daughters, Melanie Volker and Debbie Baylis, both of Howell; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Erwin "Ed" LeVine Mr. LeVine, 83, of Manchester, died Jan. 18, 2007, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he had lived in Manalapan for 54 years before moving to Manchester last year. Prior to retiring in 1986, he was a floor-covering salesman for Bamberger's department store at the Menlo Park Mall, Edison, for more than 30 years. He then worked another 10 years as a part-time security guard for Frequency Engineering Laboratories, Farmingdale. For 50-plus years, he was also known as the "Rug Man in the Yellow Building" at Englishtown Auction Sales, where he sold imported Oriental rugs. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, as well as a member of Jewish War Veterans Manalapan-Marlboro Post 972 (now Lt. Seth Dvorin Post 972). Surviving are his wife, Sally; a son and daughter-in-law, Councilman Marc and Betsy LeVine of Freehold; a daughter and son-in-law, Desly and Alexander Getty of Manchester; a brother, Dr. Thomas Baer; and three grandsons. Services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Shiva was observed at the Getty residence. Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163. Helen Ormsby Mrs. Ormsby, 72, of Manalapan, died Jan. 19, 2007, at her daughter's home in Jackson. Born in Bayonne, she had lived in Manalapan for 42 years. She was formerly employed at ShopRite Foodarama in Aberdeen. Mrs. Ormsby was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown. She was predeceased in 1999 by her husband of 41 years, Matthew, and in 2002 by a granddaughter, Kimberly Anne Cuozzo. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Wendy Ormsby of Brunswick, Ohio; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan and Thomas Cuozzo of Somerville, and Kathleen Ormsby and Nancy and Terrance Greene, all of Jackson; and seven grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, with Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, in charge of arrangements. Joseph Thomas Van Allen Mr. Van Allen, 86, of the Covered Bridge section of Manalapan, died Jan. 19, 2007, at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Middletown, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan two years ago. Prior to retiring in 1983, Mr. Van Allen was an accountant clerk for Ciba-Geigy in Summit for 10 years. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II and received the Distinguished Service Medal for meritorious achievement as well as a Bronze Star. He was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Middletown (N.Y.), where he was also an usher. Surviving are his wife, Mary; three daughters, Barbara Van Allen of Melbourne, Fla., Coral Silsbe of Manalapan and Faith Van Allen of Rockaway; a sister, Gertrude Commini; and four grandchildren. Interment was private, with a memorial Mass to be celebrated at a later date. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. Jeffrey Alan Kaplan Mr. Kaplan, 46, of Mays Landing, formerly of Manalapan, died Jan. 20, 2007, at home. He was a life member of the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad. He was most recently employed at Valenti's Italian Bakery. Prior to that, he was employed as a dealer at Bally's Park Place, Atlantic City. Mr. Kaplan was predeceased by his father, Marvin Kaplan, in 1999. Surviving are his wife, Robin Kaplan; his stepchildren, Zackery and Laura Alshamie and Matthew Tuthill; his mother, Lynn Kaplan; two sisters, Cheryl and Heidi; a brother-in-law, Mike Remvidas and his wife, Traci; his grandmother, Diane Sparnes of Philadelphia; many nieces and nephews, and a godson. Services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 294, Manalapan 07726.
