Volunteer honored for service

MANALAPAN — Township resident Min Raibman, 91, was recently honored for her 15 years of volunteer service with the Natural Resources Conservation Ser-vice (NRCS) at its All Employees Meeting and Awards Program held at the Rutgers EcoComplex in Bordentown.

The NRCS provides assistance to private land owners in the conservation and management of soil, water and other natural resources.

According to a press release, Raibman started her career with the Earth Team, NRCS’s volunteer program, when the agency was still known as Soil Conserva-tion Service.

Raibman said she works one day a week at the agency’s office in Freehold Township. When asked if she thinks she will reach an age where she will want to retire, Raibman said, “As long as I’m able to get there, I’m going to go.”

Raibman said she finds the work she does at the agency to be stimulating and interesting. She said she likes interacting with farmers and keeping abreast of developments in farming.

She said her personal life is just as rewarding given her two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and the eagerly anticipated birth of a fourth great-grandchild that is due soon.

Raibman’s work in the Freehold Town-ship NRCS office includes creating and maintaining files, sending out mailings, keeping literature and form supplies stocked and dozens of other tasks essential to running the office.
