Resident responds to New Jersey-American Water Co. representative

I am disgusted and my intelligence insulted by Lendel Jones' letter to the editor ("Customers Are Paying for a Service They Are Using," News Transcript, Oct. 25).

Ms. Jones, I do not know where you are getting your information from, we suggest you do some homework before releasing a statement to the press.

Maybe the residents of The Reserve at Manasquan River need to explain it to you in terms you will understand - so here goes.

Dick and Jane buy beautiful home in suburbs.

Jane does many, many loads of laundry.

Jane pays for the water used in washing laundry.

Jane runs dishwasher several times a week.

Jane pays for water used for running dishwasher several times a week.

Dick enjoys soaking in new Jacuzzi.

Dick pays for water used to fill Jacuzzi.

Dick loves lush green grass.

Dick waters grass every day, two times a day for 20 minutes.

Dick uses many, many, many gallons of water to wet his grass.

Dick pays for his water.

Dick's water is in his grass.

Dick should not pay for sewer.

Dick's water is in his soil.

Dick's water has not entered the sewer.

Dick and Jane should not pay for water that has not entered the sewer system.

So Ms. Jones, what have we learned from Dick and Jane? (besides the fact the Jane has more chores than Dick). We should not be paying for services we are not getting nor using.
