MARLBORO - The township's K-8 school district experienced four acts of violence and vandalism during the 2005-06 school year.

At a Board of Education meeting held Oct. 17, Superintendent of Schools David Abbott informed the public of the four incidents of violence, all of which occurred at the Marlboro Memorial Middle School, Nolan Road.

The first incident involved a pupil threatening a bus driver by saying the child's father was going to assault the bus driver.

The second incident involved a pupil threatening to slit a teacher's throat. According to the violence and vandalism report, the child was suspended from school and the parents and police were notified of the situation.

The third incident involved a student pulling a fire alarm while he was returning to class after lunch. The student was suspended from school and police were notified of the incident.

The fourth incident of violence involved a weapon. One pupil threatened another child with a knife while they were in the Family and Consumer Science class.

According to the report, the pupil did not bring the knife to school with him. As a result of an altercation during class, one child threatened another youngster by indicating that instead of cutting a bread, he would cut the child.

The pupil who made the threat was suspended from school and police were notified of the situation. According to the report, the parents of the child who was threatened did not file a complaint with police, but school administrators did.
