Kiwanis club to host gala MARLBORO - The Kiwanis Club of Marlboro will host the second annual Black Tie Gala to raise money for the Children's Specialized Hospital, Toms River. The Nov. 17 event will take place at the Crystal Plaza, Livingston, at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $175 each. Platinum sponsors for the evening include Continental Airlines and Sov-ereign Bank, Marlboro. The award sponsor for the event is Bil-Jim Construction Co., Jackson. In a press release, the Kiwanis Club of Marlboro thanked Investors Savings Bank, Marlboro, and Sovereign Bank, Marlboro, for the support they have given to the club in the past year. The club has participated in several fundraising events in the area, including raising money for the Zachary Foun-dation, Kids Against Cancer, Relay for Life, Marlboro Day, the Preston Plev-retes fundraiser, donating toys for the Children's Specialized Hospital, Macy's community day and the gala for the Children's Specialized Hospital. The Kiwanis Club of Marlboro meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month at the Crown Palace, Route 79, at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in finding out more about the club can visit the Internet Web site at www.kiwanis.org. In related news, state Assembly-woman Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth and Mercer) presented former club president Rosemarie Gibardi with a proclamation on Nov. 1. The club's new president is Michael Grandi. Gibardi, the lieutenant governor elect-designate, was also presented with the Carrington Swain Fellowship Award at the Kiwanis New Jersey District Convention in August.
