Cecilia Rose Madden

Mrs. Madden, 88, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 31, 2006, at home. Born in Newark, she had lived in Jersey City for many years. Prior to moving to Freehold 13 years ago, she resided in Point Pleasant. Cecilia was a telephone operator for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, Jersey City. She attended St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Freehold Township and Christ Church, Howell. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Madden in 1994. Surviving are two sons, John Madden of Point Pleasant and Mark Madden Bostic of North Carolina; four daughters, Geraldine Austin of Whiting, Margaret Davis of Palm Bay, Fla., Cecilia Mullanaphy of Freehold, and Mary Madden of New Lisbon; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold. Funeral services were held at Christ Church, 71 Oak Glen Road, Howell Twp. Oscar Schimensky

Dr. Schimensky, 71, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Nov. 1, 2006, at home. Born and raised in Samana, Dominican Republic, he moved to Morganville 36 years ago. Dr. Schimensky was a general practitioner serving families in the Englishtown area for 30 years before retiring in 2000. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Valerie; a son, Richard, of Morganville; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Sabrina and Tony Lopez of Florida, Lisa Schimensky of East Brunswick, Sharon and Peter Tibbetts Lulkin of Glen Rock; a brother, Ralph of Santo Domingo; and nine grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 N., Manalapan.

Larry W. Oberhuber

Mr. Oberhuber, 85, of Englishtown, died Oct. 28, 2006, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in New Brunswick before moving to Englishtown 41 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Oberhuber was a trucker for Hemmingway Trucking Company, Jersey City before retiring in 1984. He was predeceased by four siblings, John, Joseph, Betty Bergen and Ann Urillo; and a granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet; children, Kathleen and her husband, Nick Gallicchio of Highland Park; Susan and her husband, Hank Cannella of Easton, Pa.; Theresa Cuozzo of Englishtown; Thomas and his wife, Susan Cuozzo of Somerville; Michael Cuozzo of Freehold; and Cathy and her husband, Eric Knapp of Englishtown; siblings, Mary Rose of Pulaski, N.Y. ; Theresa Buskirk and Helen Kapler, both of Edison; and three great- grandchildren. George J. Oliver

Mr. Oliver, 81, of Elmwood Park, died Nov. 1, 2006, at Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack. Born in Fall River, Mass., he lived in Nantucket before moving to New Jersey 49 years ago. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Oliver worked for the Fire Door Corporation of America, Bronx, for 31 years and then as a carpenter for Ken Bauer Kitchens in Wyckoff before retiring in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Theresa; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Julie of the Morganville section of Marlboro and Ron of Howell; three brothers; five sisters; and two grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Freeman-Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 N., Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy was offered at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Route 520, Marlboro.

Marian Weisburd

Mrs. Weisburd, 90, of Marlboro, died Nov. 3, 2006, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Russia, she lived in the Covered Bridge section of Manalapan until moving to Marlboro a year ago. Mrs. Weisburd was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1997. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Lori and Jack Farscht of Marlboro and Reva Weisburd of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Bernard Rothy of Monroe; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Marlboro. Arrangements were under the direction of Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan. Shiva was observed at the Farscht home in Marlboro.

Retired Lt. Col. Marilyn T. "Mousie" Johnson

Ms. Johnson, 79, of Freehold, died Oct. 14, 2006, at a nursing home in De Leon Springs, Fla., after a long battle with breast cancer. Born at Monmouth Memorial Hospital (now Monmouth Medical Center), Long Branch, she had lived in Freehold and was a graduate of Freehold High School. She became a cadet nurse at Fitkin Hospital, Neptune, working in the maternity ward for many years. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, where she worked in obstetrics. Her tour of duty landed her in various stations throughout the world, and she taught many hospitals how to open obstetrics units of their own. She retired after 20 years of service, settling in De Leon Springs. Ms. Johnson was predeceased by four brothers, William, Frank, Edward K. "Eugene" Jr. and Lionel David Johnson, and three sisters, Edith DeStories, Betty Yarrington and Dorothy Partia. Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Anne S. Johnson and Mary Johnson, both of Freehold, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 2 Princess Road, Suite D, Lawrenceville 08648.

Martha Jean Butts

Mrs. Butts, 70, of Freehold, died Oct. 20, 2006, at home. Born in Clinton, she had lived in Freehold all her life and was a crossing guard for Freehold Borough. She also baby-sat locally and belonged to the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, Freehold. Mrs. Butts is survived by her mother, Irene Simms of Albany, N.Y.; four sons, Marlon Butts of Florida, and Zackery Butts and Wendell and Brian Everett, all of Freehold; a daughter, Dawn White, also of Freehold; two sisters, Margaret Peace and Shirley McCann, both of Freehold; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her companion and caregiver, John H. Butler of Freehold. A funeral service took place at New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

George Edward Murray Jr.

Mr. Murray, 90, of Manalapan, died Oct. 24, 2006, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Rego Park, Queens, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan five months ago. Prior to retiring in 1981, he was a purchasing agent for the cotton industry exchange at the World Trade Center in New York City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was also a former communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Forest Hills, N.Y. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mildred; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Murray and Kevin and Patti Murray, all of Manalapan, and Dennis and Denise Murray of Forest Hills; two brothers, Jerome Murray of Whiting and Frank Murray of Mineola, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at Our Lady of Mercy Church, followed by interment at St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

Martin Peraza Garcia

Mr. Garcia, 95, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Oct. 25, 2006, in Brooklyn. Born in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, he moved to Brooklyn 56 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1988, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) in New York City as an assistant electrician for 38 years. Surviving are his wife, Irma Rivera Estrella; a son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Ramona Garcia of Brooklyn; a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and John Cochran of Manalapan; and six grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan, with interment planned in Puerto Rico at Borinquen Memorial Park. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

Richard C. Bertodatti

Mr. Richard "Dick" Bertodatti Sr., 65, of Colts Neck, died Oct. 26, 2006, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark. He worked as a sales representative for Allied Building Supplies, Bound Brook. Mr. Bertodatti graduated from Power Memorial High School, New York City and attended St. John's University, Jamaica, N.Y., where he achieved All-American and was signed by the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club. He enjoyed thoroughbred racing and bred and raced horses from his home, Foxmoor Farm. He enjoyed winner's circle successes at Belmont, Aqueduct and Monmouth Park. Mr. Bertodatti was a communicant at St. Mary's Church, Colts Neck. He was preceded in death by his father, Dominick Bertodatti and a grandson. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maureen E. Shaw Bertodatti; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Jr. and Marissa of Fair Haven; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Matthew Jensen of Long Branch; Jill and Kevin Condon of Colts Neck; Jodi and Gregory Foster of Pt. Pleasant Beach; 10 grandchildren; and his mother, Maria Bertodatti of Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank, followed by Interment at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro.

Frank Redaza Opena

Mr. Opena, 82, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 25, 2006, at home. Born in Leyte, Philippines, he had lived in the area for 20 years. Prior to retiring in 1985, he was an engineer at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elizabeth. He was also a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Surviving are his wife, Rosario, as well as many nephews and their spouses. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by entombment at Maplewood Mausoleum, Freehold Township. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Burtt

Mrs. Burtt, 81, of Freehold, died Oct. 28, 2006, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident. Prior to retiring 16 years ago, Mrs. Burtt was deputy commissioner of Registration for the County of Monmouth, Freehold where she was employed for 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. Surviving are her husband, Howard Burtt; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lynn Burtt, William and Ann Burtt, all of Freehold, and James and Nancy Burtt of Willow Grove, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and David Lovelace and Colleen and Robert Ray, all of Freehold; a brother, Charles Layton of Tewksbury, Mass.; two sisters, Emily Canty of Buzzard Bay, Mass., and Marjorie Voltz of Philadelphia; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold. The Funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Bridget McCabrey Gallogly

Mrs. Gallogly, 88, of Matawan, died Nov. 1, 2006, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Ireland, she relocated to the United States in 1948, and resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., prior to moving to Matawan five years ago. She was a retired housekeeper at Morgan Guarantee, New York City. She was a member of Fort Hamilton Senior Citizens, Brooklyn. Se was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Gallogly in 1977. She is survived by four daughters, Moya Dunn of Florida, Rosaleen Hnatt of Matawan, Kathleen Dawe of Florida, and Elizabeth Stratton of Texas; three sons, Frank Gallogly of Atlantic Highlands, Joseph Gallogly of Florida, and James Gallogly of Matawan; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interment was at Oceanview Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Yolanda Falco

Mrs. Falco, 81, of Manalapan, died Oct. 28, 2006, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Fort Lee, she formerly resided in Union City and Colonia, prior to moving to Manalapan six years ago. Mrs. Falco was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 1998. She is survived by a son, Frank Falco of Parlin; a daughter, Sherry Ann Ocasio of Manalapan; a brother, Anthony Picciano of Upper Saddle River; and six grandchildren. A Funeral Mass was offered at St. John Vianney Church, Colonia, followed by entombment at St. Gertrude Mausoleum, Colonia.

Peter J. McAloon

Mr. McAloon, 86, of the Surrey Downs section of Howell, died Nov. 3, 2006, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in New York, he had lived in Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Howell six years ago. Prior to retiring in 1982, he was a bus driver for the New York City Transit Authority in Brooklyn for 36 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the European theater. He was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale. He was also an honorary member of the St. Clement Senior Citizens Club in Matawan, as well as a former member of the Marlboro Friendship Club. Mr. McAloon was predeceased by two sons, Michael in 1986 and Peter in 2001. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Dorothy McAloon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Noreen McAloon of Bedford, N.H., and Brian and Maureen McAloon of Agoura Hills, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine of Siena Church, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Margaret L. Herrschaft

Margaret Loretta Herrschaft, 93, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 29, 2006, at home. Mrs. Herrschaft was born in New York City and had resided in Staten Island, N.Y. before moving to Freehold Township six years ago. She was predeceased and by her husband, William Herrschaft, who died in 1972; a son, William J. Herrschaft; two brothers, Harold J., and John; and two sisters, Edna May and Ethel Downey. Surviving are a son, Edward G. Herrschaft of Millstone Township; a daughter, Margaret E. MacFarlane of Freehold Township; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were offered at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold, followed by interment at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island.
