Committee approves health pact

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - A resolution authorizing an agreement with the Paul M. McGuire Family Health Cen-ter/I Beseech Thee Community Develop-ment Corporation was passed at the Oct. 24 meeting of the Township Committee.

The center, which is a nonprofit corporation providing public health care services, will offer health care services to uninsured residents between Oct. 1, 2006 and March 30, 2007. The center is at 133 Throckmorton St., Freehold Bor-ough. For more information call (732) 409-0133.

In other news, the Township Com-mittee has requested $81,000 from the Monmouth County Open Space Trust Fund to help finance recreation facility improvements at various parks, including Opatut, Stonehurst and Wynnefield parks. The cost of the project amounts to more than $160,000, with Freehold Township providing the balance of funding necessary to complete the project in the form of non-county matching funds.

Finally, the committee, in conjunction with the Freehold Township Board of Education, passed a resolution approving an application to obtain a 2006 Cool Cities Community Incentive Tree Plan-ting grant from the New Jersey Depart-ment of Environmental Protection, Division of Parks and Forestry.

The committee cites the promotion of energy conservation, reduction of energy consumption and support for the Munic-ipal Community Forestry Programs as goals in obtaining the grant.
