Obituaries Matthew Cirincione Matthew Cirincione, 5, of Manalapan, died Oct. 2 at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he had lived in Manalapan all his life. He is survived by his parents, Lisa and John; two brothers and a sister, Andrew, Amanda and Jordan; his maternal grandmother, Madeline Gildin of Delray Beach, Fla.; his paternal grandparents, Sam and Tess Cirincione of Staten Island; and many aunts and uncles. Interment took place at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Thomas A. McCawley Mr. McCawley, 79, of Howell, died Oct. 4 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, from injuries resulting from an automobile accident on July 30. Born in Scranton, Pa., he and his family had lived in Lake Parsippany, as well as Reston, La., and Milford, Conn., while he was employed as a plant manager for several manufacturing firms. He attended the University of Scranton and graduated from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, with a degree in history. He later earned a master's degree from Thomas Edison State College, Trenton. He moved to Manalapan in 1969 before relocating to Howell in 1989. Mr. McCawley also worked as a consultant for the George S. May Co., traveling extensively throughout the U.S. and spending a year in Saudi Arabia. At the time of his retirement in 1997, he was a revenue officer with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Mr. McCawley served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1947. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. He was a past chief of the Lake Parsippany Volunteer Fire Company and served his community as a council member, team coach and volunteer firefighter. In addition, he was an active member of the Surrey Downs Men's Club and its poker group. He was predeceased in 2000 by his former wife, Shirley K. McCawley, and in 2003 by a daughter, Patricia McCawley Curialle. Surviving are five sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Noel McCawley of Largo, Fla., Timothy and Valerie McCawley of Middletown, John McCawley and Thomas McCawley, both of Matawan, and Matthew and Suzanne McCawley of Jackson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen and Jack Lockwood of Millstone, and Susan Henderson of Manalapan; four brothers, Francis X. McCawley of Maryland, and the Rev. William McCawley, James McCawley and Joseph McCawley, all of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren, who knew him as "Pop-Pop"; and six step-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Perrineville section of Millstone, followed by interment at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. JoAnne Tempora Ms. Tempora, 43, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Oct. 3 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Queens, N.Y., she had lived in Jackson and Howell before moving to Morganville 11 years ago. She was a teacher's assistant at CPC Behavioral Healthcare's High Point School, Morganville, for the past six years. Ms. Tempora was also a girls basketball and softball coach at St. Benedict School, Holmdel, for which she led the Rebel Magic to numerous championships and undefeated seasons. An avid softball player, she played in various leagues throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties and in many all-star games as well. Surviving are her partner of 11 years, Gabrielle Salemi; two children, Michael and Kristyn, both at home; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and George Sargent of Morganville; an aunt and uncle, Dolores and Guy Miller of Atlantic Beach, N.Y.; two nieces and a nephew. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment was private. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. Robert Acerra Mr. Acerra, 64, of Middletown, died Oct. 2 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Before his retirement in 2006, Mr. Acerra worked in several restaurants in Monmouth County and then opened the first of five Luigi's Famous Pizza Restaurants in 1969. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Middletown. He was instrumental in forming the Boys Youth Athletic Association (BYAA), Middletown. Mr. Acerra is survived by his wife, Diane Healey Acerra; two sons, Robert Acerra Jr. and Domenick Acerra, both of Middletown; three stepsons, Glen, Brian and Eric School, all of Middletown; two brothers, Ralph Acerra of Freehold and Joseph Acerra of Tinton Falls; a sister, Joan Marangello of Middletown; and five grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Middletown.
Janice A. Manganello Mrs. Manganello, 63, of Manalapan, died Oct. 4 at Rahway Hospital, Rahway. Born and raised in Brick, she had lived in Jersey City before moving to Manalapan 24 years ago. She was a secretary for the S.G.S. Communities construction company, Manalapan, for many years. She was also a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown. Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Anthony Sr.; a son, Anthony Jr. of Manalapan; three brothers, Charles, Hoppy and Paul Sherman, all of Brick; and three sisters, Tracy Sherman of West Virginia, and Judy and Gay Sherman, both of Brick. A funeral liturgy was offered at Our Lady of Mercy Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
