The Manalapan Baseball Association is holding tryouts for the 11-12-year-old Major 50-70 Division for the spring season. Players must be residents of Manalapan-Englishtown and have birth dates that fall between May 1, 1994, and April 30, 1996, to be eligible. Players are invited to participate in these tryouts, which will take place at the American Legion field, Sanford Avenue in Englishtown, on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 8, 9-11 a.m. Each player interested in trying out for the Major 50-70 Division must attend one of these sessions. A registration form will be available at the tryouts and there is an MBA league fee of $125 per player, which is due before the child can participate in the tryout. The Freehold Township Little League's annual public meeting will be held on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the township municipal building. This optional meeting is open to parents of registered league members.

The Marlboro Blue Devils, a Cooperstown U12 (spring 2007) baseball team, is looking to add players to its roster. The Blue Devils are a very competitive 50/70 team with both winter and early spring professional training led by head college coaches and former major leaguers. The team plays locally in leagues as well as local and away tournaments including the Ripken tournaments in Maryland. Next year, the Blue Devils will compete in the week-long tournament in Cooperstown, N.Y., home to baseball's Hall of Fame. For more information, contact Tripower69@aol.com.
