Prostate cancer to be discussed

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - Men and the loved ones who care about them are encouraged to attend a panel discussion, Prostate Cancer Awareness: An Evening With the Experts, presented by CentraState. The discussion will take place on Sept. 27 from 7-8:30 p.m. in CentraState Medical Center's Zwerling Auditorium.

CentraState Medical Center physicians Edward Soffen, radiation oncologist, Bhavesh Balar, medical oncologist, and Mukaram A. Gazi, urologist, will discuss topics on prostate cancer and answer questions during an open forum.

Topics include treatment options, strategies for handling a rising PSA and the impact a diagnosis of prostate cancer has on family members. Prostate cancer support group members will offer insight into how group support can be invaluable.

Registration and individual practice displays will be held from 6:30-7 p.m., followed by the panel discussion from 7-8:30 p.m. Call 866-CENTRA7 to register. E-mail questions for the panel by Sept. 21 to kscott@centrastate.com.

CentraState Healthcare System is a nonprofit community health organization consisting of an acute-care hospital, three senior living centers, a health education and activities center, a family medicine center, and a charitable foundation. It is a member of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Network and a clinical research affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
