OceanFirst gives aid to Girl Scouts

HOWELL - Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts' $3 million capital campaign, the first in its 44-year-history, has been awarded $50,000 by OceanFirst Foun-dation of Toms River.

The grant, awarded over two years, will help provide funding for the new 11,520-square-foot activity center, athletic fields, basketball courts, 12,480-square-foot equestrian center and infirmary on the council's 140-acre campus on Route 524. The campus is also home to the council's Camp Sacajawea.

Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts serves more than 12,000 girls throughout Monmouth and northern Ocean counties in conjunction with nearly 4,000 adult volunteers.

Founded in 1996, OceanFirst Foundation is the first foundation in the country to be established by a bank as part of an initial public offering, with a grant of $13.4 million in OceanFirst common stock. OceanFirst provides grants to local organizations.
