Manalapan's Craig Ebinger, was selected to the 2005-06 Pop Warner First Team All-American Senior Scholar Team at both the regional and national level. A member of the Manalapan Pop Warner program, Ebinger has been either first or second team for five consecutive years. At the National Awards Recognition Program, he won two $500 scholarships.

First- and second-team honors are based on community service, scholastic achievement and participation in Pop Warner. Ebinger is a Boy Scout and is a cadet in the JROTC program at Colts Neck High School, where he is a freshman.

Craig's younger brother, John Ebinger, a seventh-grader at the Manalapan-Englishtown Middle School, was a Second Team National and Region All-American team member.

Galaxy Gymnastics in Freehold won the Level 9 team championship at the USAIGC State Meet held in Wildwood at the Wildwood Convention Center.

In the Gold Division, Diana Hartman placed second in the all-around. She was fifth on the floor exercise, sixth on the vault, and eighth on the balance beam.

In the Platinum Division, Nicole Panzarino won the all-around. She had second places on the vault and bars, and was fourth on the floor. Danielle D'Elia was third in the all-around and the bars, and was second on the beam. Katelyn Quick rounded out the scores with a fourth place on the floor and a fifth on the vault.

The Galaxy gymnasts followed up their state championship with a third place at the USAIGC regional, which was also held in Wildwood. The girls finished third led by Hartman's win in the Gold Division all-around. She also won the vault, bars and beam.

In the Platinum Division, Panzarino was fifth in the AA with a second place on the bars and third on the beam. D'Elia was second in the AA and on the floor and won the balance beam. Quick took fourth in the AA and the floor and won the vault. She was also second on the bars.

Tryouts for the Southern Monmouth sixth-grade boys travel basketball team are going to be held at the end of this month. Children must be born between Aug. 8, 1994, and July 31, 1995, to be eligible. The team is looking for players from Marlboro, Englishtown, Manalapan, Freehold Borough, Howell, Freehold Township, Farmingdale and Colts Neck. The team will play in Central Jersey and North Brunswick leagues and several tournaments. It will play 30-plus games.
