Relatives of Civil War Medal of Honor winner sought This is an open letter to the public, seeking some help and information about Thomas T. Fallon, recipient of the Medal of Honor. Upon placing flags on the graves of the veterans of Mon-mouth County, members of the Cpl. Philip Reynolds Detach-ment Marine Corps League came upon the grave of a Thomas T. Fallon at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Freehold Township. We discovered that Mr. Fallon entered the Army in Freehold. He was a private in K Company, 37th New York Infan-try. He was at Williamsburg, Va., on May 5, 1862; at Fair Oaks, Va., on May 30-31, 1862; and at Big Shanty, Ga., on June 14-15, 1862. At Williamsburg, he assisted in driving rebel skirmishers to their main line. He participated in action at Fair Oaks, though excused from duty because of a disability. In a charge with his company at Big Shanty, he was the first man on the enemy's works. For his actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. We are searching for any family members or relatives who can provide us with more information about him in our quest to pay honors befitting a man who was awarded the Medal of Honor. Any information that can help us can be forwarded to me.
