The Yardley Players will hold auditions for "The Music Man," April 29-30 from noon to 5 p.m. at Mercer County Community College, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor; check the Kelsey Theatre signboard for the room location. All roles are open for actors, singers, dancers, and children who play a brass instrument. Ages range from 7 to 70-plus. Candidates should prepare a song in their range; bring a photo and rsum. Spotlight Players will hold auditions for the musical "Oliver!" from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 29 and from 7 to 9 p.m. May 1, at the First Presbyterian Church, Route 34 and Franklin Street, Matawan. Needed are adults, teens and boys and girls ages 7 and up. The role of Fagin has been cast. Those auditioning should bring sheet music in their key; an accompanist will be provided. Monmouth County Park System will hold auditions for its summer musical production, "Big River," at 6 p.m. April 29-30 at the Tatum Park Red Hill Activity Center, Red Hill Road, Middletown. Southard Fire Department will hold auditions for its second annual talent show from 6:30-8 p.m. on May 2 and May 9 at the firehouse, 4611 Route 9 north, Howell (across from Kmart). The talent show will be held 7-9:30 p.m. June 2 and will begin with a short "Gong Show" featuring Howell Applebee's staff. There will also be a gift auction, entertainment, and appetizers. Community Arts Partnership at the Peddie School (CAPPS) will hold auditions for "The Odyssey" by Mary Zimmerman and directed by Rick Joyce. Auditions will be held 2-5 p.m. May 6-7 at the Swig Arts Center on the campus of the Peddie School, Hightstown. "The Odyssey" is an ancient tale of one man's return from the Trojan War. The Zimmerman adaptation features a modern sensibility and an ensemble cast. In addition to actors, performers with strong music and dance backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Premier Theatre Company will hold open auditions for its summer productions - "Grease," "Fiddler on the Roof" and "The Sound of Music" - at the Henderson Theater, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Adult and teen auditions will be held May 11-12 at 7 p.m. and May 13 at 1 p.m.; children will audition separately on May 13 at 10 a.m. Those auditioning must bring a maximum of 16 bars of music, up-tempo preferred, and be prepared to dance. Ocean County College Theatre Company will hold open auditions for Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap," May 15-16 at 7:30 p.m., with callbacks May 17 at 7:30 p.m. Auditions will be held at the college's Fine Arts Center, College Drive, Toms River.
