Obituaries Joseph T. Callow Mr. Callow, 79, of Hazlet, died Feb. 1 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided there prior to moving to Hazlet 45 years ago. He was a pressman at the New York Times for 47 years, retiring in 1992. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis Callow and Daniel Callow; and a sister, Marie Golden. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Bean Callow of Hazlet; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Peter Gerryman of Freehold; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Sherry Callow of Rockville Center, N.Y., and Neil and Sandra Callow of Dallas; a sister, Lillian Killian of Florida; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Theresa E. McTigue McMahon Mrs. McMahon, 84, of Matawan, died Feb. 4 at Victoria Health Care, Matawan. Born in New York City, she resided in Palm Coast, Fla., several years, prior to relocating to Matawan three years ago. She was a telephone operator at AT&T, Lincroft section of Middletown, for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a communicant of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. McMahon in 1989. She is survived by six daughters and one son-in-law, Joan and Raymond Mara of Matawan, Terri McMahon of Seaside, Kathy McMahon of Freehold, Christine Schweitzer of Lakewood, Jeanne Butzko of Matawan and Regina Zombo of Oregon; and 12 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Clement’s Church. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Joan E. Romano Chandler Mrs. Chandler, 61, of Keyport, died Feb. 9 at home. Born in South Amboy, she resided in Marlboro, prior to moving to Keyport 37 years ago. She was a secretary at Monmouth County Vocational Rehabilitation, Tinton Falls. She was a communicant of Jesus the Lord Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Heyer in 2004. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Chandler and Kenneth Oppel, and Sandra and Angel Velez, all of Keyport; a sister, Johanna Romano of Union Beach; a brother-in-law, Alfred Heyer of Union Beach; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Jesus the Lord Church. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Anthony Damiano Guzzardo Mr. Guzzardo, 94, of Freehold Township, died Feb. 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Jersey City before moving to Freehold Township in 1981. Before his retirement in 1976, Mr. Guzzardo worked at the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard for 25 years and for Western Electric, Kearny, for 11 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township; and a member of the Brick Elks Club, the Western Electric Pioneers of Jersey City, and the Italian American Club of Toms River. Mr. Guzzardo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Christine Guzzardo; a son, Anthony Guzzardo, and his companion, Paula Martinez, of Bayonne; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and George Mericsko of Gillette, Morris County; two sisters, Margaret Guzzardo and Nina Montuori, of Babylon, Long Island, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and one niece. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. The Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. Anna Stafflinger Mrs. Stafflinger, 87, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Feb. 3 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Perth Amboy, she had lived in Marlboro for most of her life. Mrs. Stafflinger was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro, where she was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society and a church soloist. She was a member of the St. Clement’s Senior Citizens Club and the Red Hat Society. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Stafflinger, in 1990, and a son, Paul Stafflinger, in 1972. Mrs. Stafflinger is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Bruce Normand, and a granddaughter, Stephanie, all of Freehold Township. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, Marlboro, followed by interment at the parish cemetery. Patricia A. Vincent Ms. Vincent, 56, of the Morganville section of Marlboro, died Feb. 3 at The Manor, Freehold Township. She was born in South Plainfield and moved to Marlboro in 1979. Ms. Vincent was predeceased by her father, Thomas S. Vincent Sr., in 1996. She is survived by her mother, Ann Vincent, and a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas S. Jr. and Roberta Vincent, all of Freehold Township. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 260 Wall St., Eatontown 07724.
Lucille Bostic Mrs. Bostic, 71, of Freehold Township, died Feb. 4 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Philadelphia, she had been a resident of Freehold Township for the past 36 years. Mrs. Bostic was a foster mother for the past 30 years, providing a home and raising more than 193 children. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1984; and two sisters, Edith Dorsey and Betty Smith. Mrs. Bostic is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Robin Bostic of Freehold; an adopted son, Eddie Daniels Bostic of Freehold; a foster son, Anthony Tart of Freehold; a brother, Roy Craig of Freehold Township; a sister, Elizabeth Harper of Wrightstown; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment was private, under the direction of the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
Frank G. Wilson Mr. Wilson, 54, of Howell, died Feb. 5 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Staten Island, N.Y. before moving to Howell 20 years ago. Mr. Wilson was a judicial clerk for the state Superior Court at the Monmouth County Courthouse, Freehold, for the past 17 years. He is survived by his wife, Connie; his daughter, Theresa Wilson of Howell; and two sisters, Kathie Wilson and Janet Gay, both of San Diego, Calif. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Veronica’s Roman Catholic Church, Howell. The Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Joseph John Tagliareni Mr. Tagliareni, 83, of Howell, died Feb. 6 at home. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Farmingdale before moving to Howell. Before his retirement, Mr. Tagliareni was a welder for New Jersey Electronics, Dayton. He served as a gunner’s mate on the USS Lavallette in the South Pacific during World War II. His wife of 52 years, Grace D. Tagliareni, died in 1995. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Tagliareni. Mr. Tagliareni is survived by a son, Thomas Tagliareni of Howell; four daughters, Cookie Cutter of Manahawkin, Barbara Marriott of Howell, Maryellen Tagliareni of Brick, and Shannon Tagliareni of Oregon; a sister, Betty Carrino of Rutherford; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
