Auditions

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) is still accepting applications for its “Young Artist Talent Search” auditions. The auditions will fill more than 250 openings in six programs of intensive arts training in vocal and instrumental music, acting, dance and musical theater. The application deadline is Feb. 1. Auditions will be held March 25-26 at the Lucent Technologies Center for Arts Education on the NJPAC site in Newark. Workshops to assist applicants in preparing for their auditions will be held Feb. 23 and Feb. 27. Audition applications may be obtained online at www.njpac.org or by calling (973) 353-8009.

The Concordia Youth Chorale is holding its annual January enrollment auditions. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights in Middletown. There will be a simple audition to test voice range. Details and appointments: (732) 495-2066 or e-mail YouthChorale@aol.com.

The Arcadian Chorale will hold auditions for new members, 6-7 p.m. Jan. 31 at The First Presbyterian Church of Matawan, Route 34 and Franklin Street, Matawan. The spring program will celebrate Mozart’s 250th birthday with a performance of “Requiem.” Details: (732) 583-4007 or www.arcadianchorale.org.

Phoenix Productions will hold auditions for “Cats,” for ages 14 and older, at the Phoenix Studio Theatre, 111 Monmouth St., Red Bank, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 4-5, and 7-9 p.m. Feb. 7. Performances will be in April. All parts are open. Dancers at the audition will not be required to sing. Other auditioners should prepare an up-tempo musical or pop song and must have sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. The should also be prepared to dance. The Strand Theater will hold auditions for its production of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” Feb. 6-7 at 7 p.m. at the theater, 303 Fourth St., Lakewood. Callbacks will be Feb. 8. Needed are 40 men and women. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a show tune and be ready to dance. Show dates are March 31, April 1-2, 7-9.
