Three Marlboro council members take seats With the swearing in of three new Marlboro Township Council members on Jan. 2, Republicans now have complete control of Marlboro’s governing body. Jeff Cantor, Steve Rosenthal and Rosa Tragni were sworn in to begin serving four-year terms. They joined incumbents Patricia Morelli and Joseph Pernice. Morelli was elected by her fellow council members to replace Pernice as council president and Cantor was elected vice president. The council members reappointed Andrew Bayer of the firm Gluck Walrath as township attorney. Jo Ann Denton, a former councilwoman, was appointed to a five-year term on the Marlboro Township Municipal Utilities Authority (MTMUA). Denton’s term will begin Feb. 1. The MTMUA provides water service to a portion of the community. Cantor voted no on Denton’s appointment. The council also appointed four individuals to seats on the Zoning Board of Adjust-ment. Glenn Malysz, Robert J. Knight and Louis Wildman were appointed to four-year terms on the board. Cindy Sarna was appointed to a two-year term as an alternate board member. The terms of former zoning board chairwoman Sherry Hoffer and former vice chairman Jeffrey Rosen ended in December. At the Jan. 5 zoning board reorganization meeting, Michael Fishman was elected chairman, Malysz was elected vice chairman and Adrianne Spota was elected secretary. The board changed its meeting night from Thursday to Tuesday to accommodate several board members and professionals. Board members appointed Michael Steib as zoning board attorney, David Thesing of Gravatt Consulting Group Inc., Freehold, as the board’s engineer and Jennifer Beahm from Birdsall Engineering as the board’s planner. Beahm is also the township’s planner. There were no new members appointed to the Planning Board and the positions of chairman, vice chairman and attorney re-mained the same as last year. Peter Bellone is chairman of the board, Gerald Bergh is the vice chairman and Dennis Collins is the board’s attorney.
