New vice principal tapped BY TALI ISRAELI MARLBORO - James N. McCann has been hired by the Board of Education to succeed Patricia Nieliwocki as the vice principal at the Marlboro Middle School, Route 520. Nieliwocki took over as the school's principal after Stephan Charton resigned from the position at the end of the 2005-06 school year. Charton left for a position in a private school in East Brunswick. McCann will come to the Marlboro K-8 School District from the William Allen Middle School, Moorestown, where he was a seventh-grade geography/inclusion teacher. He has taught in Moorestown since the 2000-01 school year. McCann received his bachelor's degree in historical studies and education from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. He has a master's degree in educational administration from Caldwell College. In related news, the board has approved the employment of six new teachers: Ryan Guth, a music teacher at Marlboro Memorial Middle School; Yolanda Kabourakis, a teacher of the handicapped at Frank J. Dugan Elementary School; Ailish Kuldanek, a teacher of the handicapped at Marlboro Memorial Middle School; Richard M. Pagliaro, a math teacher at Marlboro Memorial Middle School; Carolyn Seaman, a language arts teacher at Marlboro Memorial Middle School; and Karen Strickland, a part-time language arts teacher at Marlboro Middle School. The board also recognized the retirement of seven custodians. Thomas P. Hyer has been a custodian in the district for 28 years. He has worked at Marlboro Middle School and at the Frank Defino Central Elementary School, but spent the majority of his years at Frank J. Dugan Elementary School. Edward J. Kobis has been employed by the district as a custodian at Robertsville Elementary School for 19 years. Robert Kopcho, also known as "Chopper," has been a custodian in the district for 18 years. He has worked at the Asher Holmes Elementary School and at the Defino School. According to information provided by district officials, Kopcho delights the staff at Asher Holmes when he sings his favorite Polish songs and tells great stories about his trips to local restaurants. William Long has been a custodian at almost every school in Marlboro for the past 25 years. In the last three years, Long has been instrumental in getting the Marlboro Memorial Middle School ready for students and staff members. Marsha Meade has been employed by the district for 24 years. For her first 16 years in Marlboro, Meade was an employee of the Transportation Department as a bus driver and as a driver trainer. For the last eight years, Meade has been a custodian at the Defino Central School and at the Marlboro Early Learning Center. James Meade has been a custodian at Marlboro Middle School for 11 years. He became a valued part of the district because of his cheerful manner and his strong relationships with the staff. Patricia Twardos has been a custodian at Robertsville Elementary School and Marlboro Elementary School for 10 years. Twardos has developed a strong working relationship with the staff and with the parents, according to information provided by the board.
