Auditions Center Players will hold auditions for its adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” for all ages, Dec. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Center Playhouse, 35 South St., Freehold. Needed are youths ages 11-16. Staging will be March 11-26, with two performances each Saturday and Sunday. Those auditioning should prepare a short monologue (two paragraphs) from a play or book expressing sorrow, fear, seriousness or strength. Scripts will also be provided for reading. New Jersey Performing Arts Center will hold auditions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Lucent Technologies Center for Education, 24 Rector St., Newark, to fill eight children’s roles in the national tour of “Evita,” to play at NJPAC Dec. 19-24 for seven performances. Performers ages 8-12, no taller than 5 feet 2 inches, must be able to sing and stand still for a long period of time. Those auditioning must prepare a song from memory that best exemplifies their singing ability and bring sheet music in the chosen key. An accompanist will be provided. Circle Players will hold auditions for “The Skin of Our Teeth” by Thornton Wilder at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 and Dec. 14 at its playhouse, 416 Victoria Ave., Piscat-away. Callbacks will be Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. Rehearsals will begin Jan. 16, and performances will be March 3-19, Friday through Sunday. Those auditioning should prepare a contemporary comic monologue of two to three minutes. Individuals with skills such as juggling, magic, singing and playing an instrument are especially encouraged to audition. Needed are five leads and an ensemble of seven. The actor who portrays Henry should appear between ages 16-22, as should Gladys. Playful Theatre Productions will hold auditions for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats” at Mercer County Community College, Dec. 15, 7-9 p.m., and Dec. 17, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with callbacks Dec. 18. The audition room location will be posted at Kelsey Theatre on the college’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Those auditioning will be asked to perform a contemporary musical theater song that illustrates range and acting ability, and should come prepared to dance. The Yardley Players will hold auditions for “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at Mercer County Community College, Jan. 7-8 from noon to 4 p.m. The show is directed by Howard Matter. The audition room location will be posted at Kelsey Theatre on the college’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Those auditioning must at least 10 years of age and should be prepared to read from the script. They should also bring a résumé and a recent photo.
