Obituaries Anthony Scotto Mr. Scotto, 76, of Millstone, died Feb. 16 at home. Born in Monte di Procida, Italy, he came to the United States in 1936, residing in Brooklyn, N.Y., for several years before settling in Millstone more than 60 years ago. Mr. Scotto and his brother Frank owned and managed a 200-acre vegetable farm in Millstone from the 1940s through the 1980s. For the past 15 years, he cultivated flowers and garden plants, selling them at local markets across Monmouth County. Before becoming a farmer, Mr. Scotto worked as a cook. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Perrineville. He was predeceased by his brother Frank. Mr. Scotto is survived by his wife of 37 years, Antonia Bianchi Scotto; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Scotto and Victoria Hornbostel of Stamford, Conn., and Anthony Scotto Jr. of Millstone; a daughter and son-in-law, Mariagrace and Michael Welsh of Lincroft; a brother, Dominick Scotto of Hollywood, Fla.; a sister, Mary Puglisi of Howell; two granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by interment at the parish cemetery. John Theodor Sr. Mr. Theodor, 85, of Howell, died Feb. 18 at home. Born in New York City, he had lived in Howell since 1939. Prior to retiring in 1986, he was employed at the McGuire Air Force Base, Wrightstown, for 30 years. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Olive DuBois Theodor; two sons, Norman Maxfield Jr. of the New Egypt section of Plumsted and John A. Theodor Jr. of Brick; three daughters, Nancy Chmura of Howell, Linda Dennison of Melbourne, Fla., and Joann Harris of Minden, La.; a brother, William Theodor of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Lillian B. Mironchik Carotenuto Mrs. Carotenuto, 67, of Freehold, died Feb. 21 at home. Born in Neptune Township, she had lived in Freehold all her life and was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Freehold. A graduate of Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing, New York City, she was a registered nurse at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, for more than 20 years prior to retiring. She had worked in the emergency room and in labor and delivery, and also as an IV therapist. A member of the U.S. Trotting Association, she trained standardbred horses with her husband and children. Surviving are her husband, former Freehold police Capt. Louis Carotenuto; three daughters and a son-in-law, Louise Carotenuto-Kousoulides and Tim Kousoulides, Maryanna Carotenuto and Elizabeth J. Carotenuto; two sons, Michael Carotenuto and Louis J. Carotenuto Jr.; and three grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, with the Rev. Anthony Carotenuto, Mrs. Carotenuto’s brother-in-law, officiating. Interment followed at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Dolores Dominiecki Ms. Dominiecki, 68, died Feb. 21 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in New Brunswick, she had resided in South River before moving to Freehold several years ago. She was predeceased by her parents, Leona and John Dominiecki. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Marilyn Dominiecki of Monroe; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Denise and Robert Bodnar of South River, and Diane and Kenneth Bara of Bishopville, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services were held, with Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements. Mildred E. Caprioni Mrs. Caprioni, 81, of Freehold, died Feb. 22 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Freehold, she was a lifelong resident and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Freehold. Prior to retiring two years ago, she was employed by Old Monmouth Candies, Freehold, for 46 years. Surviving are her husband, Patsy P. Caprioni; four sons, Barry Caprioni of Wellington, Fla., Bruce Caprioni of Freehold, Craig Caprioni of Brick and Patrick Caprioni of Wayne; two sisters, Irene McCormick and Rose Lipski, both of Freehold; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment took place at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Jeannette Giunco Mrs. Giunco, 103, of Freehold Township, died Feb. 22 at Applewood Health Care, Freehold Township. Born in Mulhouse, France, she came to the United States in 1925 and resided in Belmar for 62 years before moving to Freehold Township in 1988. Mrs. Giunco was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, and a member of the Belmar Woman’s Club. She also volunteered at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, for more than 30 years. Mrs. Giunco was predeceased by her husband, Albert, in 1964; a son, Richard, in 2003; and a sister, Matilda Congdon, in 2002. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Annette Giunco of Manalapan; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Wall Township. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702; or to St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Georgia Road, Freehold 07728. Mark W. Ross Mr. Ross, 48, of Freehold Township, died Feb. 24 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Dallas, he had lived in Nazareth, Pa., before moving to Freehold Township six years ago. For the past seven years, he was a regional sales manager for Fujitsu, Freehold Township. A graduate of Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, Freehold, where he served as an usher. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Holmes Ross; a daughter, Amanda L. Ross, at home; a brother, Jim Ross of Florida; and two sisters, Barbara Parker of Dallas and Debbie Jones of Grand Prairie, Texas. Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Arlene Laverne Bien Pyle Mrs. Pyle, 84, of Freehold, died Feb. 20 at The Manor Nursing Home, Freehold Township. She resided in Tinton Falls before moving to Freehold eight years ago. Mrs. Pyle was an executive secretary at the Fort Monmouth Post Engineering Office, Eatontown, before her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Red Bank. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank John Bien, in 1968; and her second husband, Robert C. Pyle, in 1997. She is survived by two sons, John T. Bien of Freehold and Thomas H. Bien of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Ruth E. Finn of Freehold and Linda L. Brower of Ocean; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. The Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown, was in charge of arrangements.
