HOWELL — Ramtown Elemen-tary School art teacher Nicoletta Siccone has been recognized as Art Educator of the Year by the Monmouth County Arts Council. The Monmouth County Arts Council is a private, nonprofit organization that is the official arts agency for Monmouth County. Siccone is a graduate of Montclair State University and began her teaching career in Jersey City. She has been teaching art at the Ramtown Elementary School for 12 years. The Ramtown school has been recognized locally and nationally for its art program, including the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Bilingual and Equity Issues and the Japan-Fulbright Memorial Fund. The state Department of Education honored the Ramtown school with recognition as an Exemplary Model Program for the interdisciplinary unit “Making Art Relate to Culture.” In addition, Siccone applied for and won the Fulbright Memorial Fund Award to Japan, being selected as one of two teachers to represent the state of New Jersey on its inaugural trip in 1997. Her recent award-winning application for the Monmouth County Arts Council highlighted the infusion of art throughout the school and community through the school’s art Web site.
