Automated postal center comes to post office
MANALAPAN — The Manalapan-Englishtown post office, corner of Route 522 and Taylors Mills Road, will hold a Customer Appreciation Day on Dec. 8.
In conjunction with the event, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. to launch the post office’s newest self-service station, the automated postal center (APC).
The APC is designed to provide quick, easy and convenient access for postal products and services, just as ATMs have provided for banking customers, but with no extra fee.
According to a press release from the post office, the self-service kiosk lets customers mail domestic packages without taking them to the retail counter.
Using credit and debit cards only, the APC enables customers to weigh and mail letters and parcels as well as purchase stamps. It also dispenses postage in any amount for express mail, priority mail, first-class mail and parcel post services.
The APC also provides mailing information, ZIP code directory and delivery confirmation services.
The Manalapan-Englishtown post office is one of only 2,500 post offices nationwide selected to receive the new self-service technology. Customers will have access to the APC 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the post office lobby.
Customer Appreciation Day will also feature refreshments, coupons for retail merchandise (except packaging material, stamps and sports mattes), and a drawing to win a $40 postal scale for customers participating in the “click ‘n’ ship” demonstration.
