Additional flu shots available
BY DAVE BENJAMIN
Staff Writer

MANALAPAN — Additional flu shots are being made available to residents in high priority groups.

The vaccine will be made available on a first come, first serve basis at the end of the Dec. 14 lottery-based clinic, according to the board of health.

“Between Nov. 30 and Dec. 14 we will be able to vaccinate all the high priority persons who registered for the lottery,” said health officer David Richardson. “Depending on the final numbers of available vaccine, we will do our best to vaccinate other high priority Manalapan residents at the end of the Dec. 14 clinic on a first come, first serve basis.”

In cooperation with the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey and the Freehold Area Health Department, the Manalapan Board of Health is co-sponsoring the flu vaccination clinic on Dec. 14 at the Covered Bridge I clubhouse on Amberly Drive.

“Lottery participants will receive a letter indicating the time they should arrive for their flu shot,” Richardson said. “We are asking [only] those Manalapan residents who did not enter the lottery and who meet National Centers for Disease Control guidelines for flu vaccine this year, and want the vaccination, to come to the Covered Bridge clubhouse.”

Richardson said the lottery portion of the clinic is expected to be completed by noon. Manalapan residents who qualify and are interested in obtaining the vaccine should arrive at the clinic site no earlier than 11:30 a.m. There is a $10 fee for the vaccination.

Persons in the high priority group who are less than 65 years of age must bring information from their physician documenting the medical condition(s) that substantiate the need for a flu shot. Failure to bring this information and failure to meet one of the CDC high priorities will result in a denial of the vaccination.

For further information call the Manalapan Health Department at (732) 446-8345.
