Items needed for soldiers serving U.S. overseas

The Friends of the 114th Infantry Army New Jersey Guard will host a gift drive for soldiers deployed far from home. The 114th Infantry National Guard soldiers were activated from civilian life and recently deployed to the Saudi peninsula.

The gift drive will be held Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the National Guard Armory, Route 33, Freehold. The following items are needed: socks, iced tea and Kool Aid mix, bug spray, Motrin, playing cards, gel sole inserts for boots, hard candy, soap, cleansing wipes, sunscreen, and lip balm. Perishable items are not recommended.

The Friends of the 114th Infantry is a coalition of business professionals, charities, service organizations and volunteers dedicated to providing a little taste of home for soldiers serving as part of America’s war on terror. All proceeds will go directly to the men and women in uniform. For further details, call (212) 267-6698 and ask for Ron DeBoer.
