Mayor salutes effort to organize soccer tournament

As the mayor of Marlboro and a parent of a participant in the 2004 Summer Soccer Tournament, I would like to extend my thanks to all the people who assisted in this event. One hundred fifty teams from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania spent Aug. 27, 28 and 29 competing in the 17th annual Marlboro Summer Soccer Tourn-ament.

Organizing this tournament took a great amount of cooperation. I feel it is important to acknowledge these entities. If it were not for their hard work, our children would not have had the opportunity to experience such an exciting weekend.

My sincere thanks go to the Marlboro Police Department, the Marlboro Explor-ers, the soccer executive committee, the soccer committee, the Recreation Com-mission, the recreation staff and the Marlboro grounds maintenance department.

A special thank you to the Freehold Regional High School District and Marl-boro Pop Warner for negotiating a more equitable use of the township fields; to our parents and coaches who prove to be wonderful role models for our young players. And, last but not least, to all the players — you are all winners.

Dr. Robert Kleinberg

Mayor

Marlboro
