Obituaries Nicholas F. Cogliano Jr. Mr. Cogliano, 43, of Red Bank died Aug. 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Atlantic Highlands and Hazlet before moving to Red Bank 15 years ago. Mr. Cogliano was a production manager at Variety Industries, Freehold, the past 18 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Louise Perno Cogliano, in 1983. He is survived by his father, Nicholas Cogliano Sr. of Palm Coast, Fla.; his wife, Cheryl Butler of Red Bank; two brothers, Carmen Cogliano of Marlboro and Dennis Cogliano of Pine Beach; a son, Steven Reamer; and three nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements. Odilie Hernandez Mrs. Hernandez, 77, of Atlantic Highlands, died Aug. 17 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, she had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Atlantic Highlands 10 years ago. Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her husband, Francisco; a son, Alvaro of Secaucus; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Maritza LeCatta of Hazlet, Leticia and Richard Martin of Sparta, and Ligia and Lloyd Good of Freehold; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Born in Freehold, she was a lifelong resident and a member of the Reformed Church of Freehold. She was predeceased by a brother, Harry Wilson, and a granddaughter, Erika Hernquist. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Lydon Hendrickson; two daughters, Lois Ann Hernquist of St. Clair Shores, Mich., and Carol Hendrickson Giammetti of Freehold; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; and a niece and nephew. Verbarg-Rothrock Mrs. Verbarg-Rothrock, 71, of Freehold, died Aug. 17 at home. Born in Indianapolis, she had lived in Madison before moving to Freehold five years ago. A graduate of Indianapolis’ Broad Ripple High School and Butler University, she was an administrator for the state of New Jersey, Mount Arlington, prior to retiring and had previously been a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines. She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Verbarg Jr. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles F. III and Deborah Rothrock of Colts Neck; a sister, Barbara Maddox of Indiana; and two granddaughters. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Surviving are her husband, Joseph; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Grace Amico; two brothers (and their children), Vincent Corrado and Anthony Corrado; three sisters (and their children), Millie Day, Vera Medvecky and Anna Morelli; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Gerald Edelman Mr. Edelman, 69, of North Caldwell, died Aug. 16 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he had lived in North Caldwell since 1970. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1957 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y., and in 1966 graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, with a master of science degree in electrical engineering. He was the staff scientist for ITT Industries Aerospace/Communications Division (A/CD), Clifton, for 44 years and had just retired. He was a member of Congregation Agudath Israel of West Essex, Caldwell; the Hillel Angels Motorcycle Club of Temple Beth Rishon, Wyckoff; the United Jewish Appeal of MetroWest New Jersey; and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Surviving are his wife, Esta (née Spiegel) Edelman; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Harris Nydick of North Caldwell; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joy Edelman of Freehold; a brother, Daniel Edelman of Upper Saddle River; and five grandchildren. Services were held at Congregation Agudath Israel. Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery, Rochelle Park. Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton, was in charge of arrangements. James Joseph Nola Mr. Nola, 60, of Freehold Township died Aug. 18 at home. Born and raised in Staten Island, N.Y., he had lived in Jackson for 15 years before moving to Freehold Township in January. He was the owner of Aamco Transmissions in Marlboro for the past 25 years and was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Surviving are his wife, Alyse Gitlin Nola; three daughters, Michelle Nola and Jessica Nola, both of Freehold, and Danielle Brzyski of Ocean Grove; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Staten Island. Patricia Schaab Mrs. Schaab, 77, of Manalapan died Aug. 18 at Fletcher Allen Memorial Hospital, Vermont. Born in Carona, Long Island, N.Y., she had been a resident of Monmouth County since 1960. Mrs. Schaab was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Perrineville section of Millstone. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Mary Kate. Surviving are her husband, Robert Schaab; two sons, Robert M. Schaab of Trumbull, Conn., and Michael Schaab of Hillsborough; a daughter, Marianne Hill of Millstone; three sisters, Joan Gorycki of Douglaston, N.Y., Marguerite DeLay of Flushing, N.Y., and Miriam Nolan of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by interment at the parish cemetery, Perrineville. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Pearl Geller Mrs.. Geller, 85, of Marlboro died Aug. 22 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she had lived in Matawan for 30 years before moving to Marlboro. She was a supervisor at North American Reassurance Co., New York City, for 30 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Temple Beth Ahm, Matawan, where she was also a member of its sisterhood. She was a member of the Cheesequake Village Sunshine Club, and the Careful Listeners at Old Bridge School. Mrs. Geller was predeceased by her husband, Julius Geller. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert and Nancy Geller of Voorhees; a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Bill Levitt of Aberdeen; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Temple Beth Ahm. Interment was at Beth Moses Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y. The Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. |
