PAULINE TAGATAC, 81, of Lakewood died July 14 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in New York City, she had been a resident of Lakewood for a year and a half. Mrs. Tagatac was predeceased by her husband, Elpidio Tagatac, in 1991; a brother, Sol Zamft; and a sister, Clara Tagatac. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Tagatac and Anne Mayer, of Freehold Township; and three grandchildren. The Rev. Myrna Bethke, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Freehold, officiated at the funeral service. Interment took place at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

LUCILLE S. ONORATO, 70, of Old Bridge died July 8 at home. Prior to her retirement in 1996, she was employed as a sales clerk at Macy’s, East Brunswick, for 13 years. Surviving are a son, Steven of Jamesburg; a daughter, Roxanne Napolitano of the Morganville section of Marlboro; a brother, Richard Mezzo of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Interment was in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro.

RUTH WOISARD REILLY, 88, of Sayreville died July 10 in Victoria House Care Center, Matawan. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter P. Reilly; by a son, Paul Reilly; and by a grandson, Walter P. Terrell. Surviving are seven sons, Walter P. Jr. of Woodbridge, David and Philip, both of Seal Beach, Calif., Peter of Tannersville, Pa., Stephen of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Joseph of Freehold and John of the Mercerville section of Hamilton; three daughters, Mary Ann Zimmer of Manasquan, Ellen Reilly of Waldwick and Elizabeth Reilly of Fair Lawn; a brother, Edwin "Ned" Woisard of Annandale, Va.; 32 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hanover.

CARROLL T. (CARL) CRAWFORD, 59, of Lakewood, a former resident of Freehold, died June 30 at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. He attended local schools in the Freehold area, relocating to Lakewood in 1990. Mr. Carroll was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Crawford. Surviving are his brothers, Robert J. Crawford Sr. and Michael Crawford, both of Freehold; nine nieces and nephews and 14 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Interment was at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

ANGRIK STEPANOW, 46, of Yardville, died July 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Neptune, he resided in Howell and Robbinsville before moving to Yardville in 1998. Mr. Stepanow was a senior project manager at All-tech Inc., Monroe, the past 14 years. He was a member of Temple Nitsan, Howell. He played for the New Jersey Americans professional soccer team, and played on award-winning soccer teams at Hartwick College, Oneonta, N.Y., and Howell High School, where he also made the Hall of Fame for soccer. He was predeceased by his father, Boris Stepanow, in 1985; his mother, Anna Stepanow, in 1990; and a brother, Alexander, in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sara Stepanow; two daughters, Katarina and Annalisa, both at home; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Badma and Ling-Shia Stepanow of Langhorn, Pa., Basan Stepanow of Howell, Narma and Ellen Stepanow of Brick, and Danara Stepanow of Philadelphia; and a sister, Sagma Stepanow of Manassas, Va. A funeral service was held at Nitsan Temple, Howell. Interment was at St. Vladimir’s Cemetery, Jackson. Arrangements were by C.H.T. Clayton and Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell.

HELEN E. HAGGAS, 83, of Lakewood, died July 3 at home. She resided in Jersey City before moving to Lakewood in 1962. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Lakewood. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary No. 348 as well as Veterans of Foreign Warts Post No. 8867. She served as PTA president at the Spruce Street School in 1972. Mrs. Haggas is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gilbert Haggas of Lakewood; two daughters, Margaret Pedraza of Howell and Karen Schwab of Jackson; a son, William Haggas of Keysville, Va.; and five grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Lakewood. Interment was in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.

VICTOR MENDOLIA, 68, of Whiting died July 11 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Brooklyn, he had lived in Howell and Lakewood before moving to Whiting three years ago. Mr. Mendolia was a medical technician at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, for 15 years before retiring in 1995. Surviving are several aunts and cousins, and his friends Joseph Caruso, Donald Caruso and Robert Ernes. A graveside service was held at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

JAMES R. MAXWELL, 67, of Marlboro died July 13 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, he had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., for 47 years before moving to Marlboro 10 years ago. Before his retirement in 1979, Mr. Maxwell was a New York City police officer for 21 years, most recently at the 69th Precinct in Brooklyn. After retiring from the N.Y.P.D., he was a federal police officer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, for several years. He was a life member of the New York City Policemen’s Benevolent Association. Mr. Maxwell was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of New Jersey Post 100 of the American Legion. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge, and a member of St. Thomas Council No. 4815, Knights of Columbus, Old Bridge. Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frances Horn Maxwell; a son and daughter-in-law, James K. and Ellen Maxwell of East Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Christopher Brown of East Brunswick; two brothers, Robert Maxwell of Brooklyn and Richard Maxwell of Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; a sister, Carole Ward of Breezy Point, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 846 Main St., Fords 08863.

JOHN GRINKEVICH, 75, of The Villages, Howell, died July 9 at home. Mr. Grinkevich was born in Garfield and had lived in the Wickatunk section of Marlboro for five years and in Marlboro for 34 years before moving to Howell two years ago. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Germany during the Korean War. Mr. Grinkevich was a stock checker for the Ford Motor Company, Edison, where he was employed for 39 years before his retirement 12 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Kazimiera C. Szurlej Grinkevich; two sons and daughters-in- law, John and Robin Grinkevich, Cream Ridge, and Richard and Donna Grinkevich, Manalapan; three daughters, Karen and Joseph Lupton, Atlanta, Ga., a brother, Joseph Grinkevich, Jackson; a sister, Anne Rose, Howell; and 12 grandchildren, Daniel, Ryan, Matthew, Taylor, Dana, Melissa, Jake, Alex, Paul, Jack, James and Christopher. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold Borough. Interment was at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

LARIMER LANE CHISHOLM, 75, of Freehold Township died July 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Arkansas, he had lived in Florida before moving to Freehold Township. Mr. Chisholm was a truck driver and dispatcher for North American Van Lines, Gainesville, Fla., until his retirement. He also was an arborist. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by a brother, Norwood, in 1956. Mr. Chisholm is survived by two sons, Steve Chisholm of Jackson and Jon Chisholm of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Cheryl Comiskey of Freehold and Carol Lail-Wornick of Forest City, N.C.; two brothers, Gary Chisholm of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Leonard Chisholm of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Erlene Chisholm of Brielle; four grandsons; and five great-grandchildren. Pastor Kenneth Underhill of the Jackson Baptist Church officiated at the funeral service. Interment took place at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.

NORMAN G. HILLERS, 81, of Freehold Township died July 17 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Queens, N.Y., before moving to Silvermead, Freehold Township, in 1988. Mr. Hillers was a foreman at Parker & Stearns and Ideal Rubber and Plastics, Brooklyn, retiring in 1975. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Normandy and central Europe. He was a member of the Silvermead Community Club, Freehold Township. Mr. Hillers is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna Hillers; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth J. and Maureen Hillers of Freehold Township; and two grandchildren. Burial will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown, with the date and time to be announced. The C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell, is in charge of arrangements.
