Marlboro resident helps to make life bearable in Iraq
Sometimes a person you have never met can impact your life in a positive way. Although I live in Marlboro, I’m currently several thousand miles away. One of my fellow Marlboro residents, whom I have never had the pleasure of meeting, has reached out and positively impacted my life and those around me. Her name is Andrea Mesh. Andrea has put together several care packages for me and my fellow troops currently stationed in Iraq. She has taken the time to try and make our lives better with some of the comforts of home. It’s a great feeling knowing that people at home care about you, even people you don’t know. Andrea Mesh is on a mission to make the soldiers here a little happier by providing comfort items as well as items of necessity for us to live here in the Middle East. I had to go without a real shower for a one-month period. If it weren’t for all of the baby wipes that she sent to me and my soldiers, life around here would have been a little less happy and a lot riper. It’s people like Andrea who I consider one of the silent heroes. No one told her she had to send us care packages, she just did it out of the kindness of her heart. There should be more people like Andrea Mesh. I would like to personally thank her and all of the people who donated items that have been sent to us. It’s a very nice thing she has done. I hope more people follow her lead and think about others who are far away from home. I am looking forward to returning to Marlboro once our mission here is completed. On behalf of all my soldiers, we thank you, Andrea, for your kindness and compassion. Maj. Jeff Cantor Marlboro Currently stationed in Kirkuk, Iraq |
