Obituaries BRUCE C. MILLER, 67, of Colts Neck, died June 13. Born in Dubuque, Iowa, he was raised in Waterloo, Iowa, before moving to Colts Neck in 1965. He served with the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) at Fort Monmouth for 37 years before retiring as director of the Command/Control and Systems Integration Directorate in 1995. He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, and the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Wisconsin. He was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, Commanders Award for Civilian Service, Superior Civilian Service Award, and CECOM’s 10 Outstanding People Award. In 1989, he was awarded the Joint Service Medal. He was president of the Fort Monmouth Chapter of the Army; and a member of the Aviation Association of American, the Association of the U.S. Army, and the Armed Forces Communications-Electronics Association. He was a member of the Technical Cooperation Program of the English Speaking Nations, Countermeasures Sub Group. He was a senior member and president of the New Jersey Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and received the IEEE Centennial Medal in 1984. He also was director, trustee and president of the Garden State Chapter of the Association of Old Crows, and a member of the Industrial Representatives Association, Eatontown. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Miller; a sister, Carol Divertie of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a brother, Dr. James. C. Miller of Mirro Bay, Calif. BROCK, 74, of Silvermead, Freehold Township, died June 14 at home. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Bayonne before moving to Silvermead 18 years ago. Mrs. Brock was employed for many years in the deli department at the Two Guys store in Jersey City. She was active in the Silvermead Community Club and was a member of the CentraState Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. Mrs. Brock is survived by her husband, Francis T. Brock; two sons, Francis Brock of Hazlet and Thomas Brock of Long Branch; three daughters, Joyce Urban of Wayne, Deborah McDonough Kisielewski and Patricia Anderson, both of Bayonne; five sisters, Viola Palangio of Brick, Anna Corrado of Spotswood, Dorothy Lyons of Manchester, Elizabeth White of Seminole, Fla., and Beatrice McConnell of East Brunswick; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by entombment at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel. Memorial donations may be made to Caring Hospice, 525 Route 70, Suite 15B, Lakewood 08701. EDNA HIGGINS HOLTZ, 81, of Freehold Township died June 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Marlboro, she was a lifelong resident of the Freehold area. She was employed at the Fort Monmouth Personnel Department from 1941-49. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and a member of Court No. 737 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She is survived by her husband, Ernest J. Holtz; two sons, Christopher J. Holtz of Freehold Township and Craig J. Holtz of Lakehurst; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ellen Kenny of Freehold Township and Eileen Beesley and Philip of Spring Lake Heights; a sister, Jeannette Thompson of Shrewsbury; and five grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Transverse Myelitis Association, 10105 167th Place N.E., Redmond, WA 09052-3125. CATHERINE HOWE, 82, of Manalapan, died June 16 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she lived in Hoboken and Freehold before moving to Manalapan two years ago. She was coordinator of volunteers for the Manalapan Senior Center, the RSVP Group, the Division of Youth and Family Services, St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken, and CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her husband, John J., in 1987. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Anthony Sirignano of Manalapan, and Beverly and Anthony Lombardi of Freehold; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. ALLAN JESSURUN, 58, of Manalapan died June 18 at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Marlboro for 20 years before moving to Manalapan two years ago. He was the manager of Cohen’s Babyland in Manalapan. He was a graduate of Long Island (N.Y.) University. He was predeceased by a son, Brett, in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; a daughter, Heather; and a sister, Carolee Forst of the Morganville section of Marlboro. Cantor Wayne Siet officiated at the funeral service. Interment was private. MARY T. GRASBERGER, 77, of Freehold Township died June 19 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in South Amboy, she moved to Freehold Township in 1929. In 1961 she moved to Southern Pines, N.C., and returned to Freehold in 1972. She was a judiciary clerk for the state of New Jersey Probation Department for the past 19 years. Prior to that, she was employed by CETA, Freehold; the Pinehurst Hotel, Pinehurst, N.C.; and the former A&M Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold; a member of Jednota Branch No. 59, South Amboy; and a member of the Emperors Club, Atlantic City. She also was active in Monmouth County ARC. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Grasberger, in 1991; and a son, Paul J. Jr., in 1999. Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Grasberger of Troy, N.C., Marianne Grasberger, at home, and Janet and Andrew Koloski of Freehold Township; a daughter-in-law, Myrtle Grasberger of Shelbyville, Ky.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jacqueline Tabacsko of Freehold Township; a sister, Anne Coyne of Freehold Township; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church. ZBIGNIEW "JACOB" SWISTAK, 58, of Sayreville, died June 8 at home. Surviving are his wife, Gabriela Kantowska Swistak; a son, Steven Swistak of Manalapan; a daughter, Cathy Mastorio of the Parlin section of Sayreville; two brothers, Konrad Swistak of Poland and Stanley Swistak of Spotswood; a sister, Zofia Koper of Poland; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.
