STANZIO LOUIS GRIECO, 71, of Manchester died April 28 at Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he resided in River Vale for 33 years prior to moving to Manchester eight years ago. He was a compliance examiner at the National Association of Securities Dealers, New York City, for 15 years, retiring in 1995. He served with the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Rosina Grieco of Manchester; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Laura Grieco of Manalapan, and Guy and Lisa Grieco of Matawan; his brother, John Grieco of Laughlin, Nev.; his sister, Concetta Grieco of Suffern, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manala-pan. Interment was at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

JUDY D. LaPORTE, 59, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., died April 29 at Overlook Hospital, Summit. Born in Troy, N.Y., she resided in Hazlet and Toms River prior to moving to Dingmans Ferry 1.5 years ago. She was an executive secretary at Puerto Rico Marine Management, Port Elizabeth, for 20 years, retiring in 2002. She was predeceased by her father, John S. Rever. She is survived by her mother, Eva Viscusi Rever of Toms River; her husband, Ralph L. LaPorte of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; her daughter, Robin Jill Planko of Freehold; two sons, Glenn Michael LaPorte of Old Bridge, and Matthew John LaPorte of Keyport; two sisters, Sandy Kropkowski of Maryland, and Terri Norris of Virginia; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport.

FLORENCE PLOTKIN, 78, a resident of the Covered Bridge adult community, Manalapan, died April 23 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Manalapan two years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Rubin, in 2000 Surviving are a son a daughter-in-law, Alan and Caroline of Staten Island, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Perry and Dr. Leslie Sofjka of Freehold; and two grandchildren. Interment was in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin section of Woodbridge.

EVELYN M. FOWLES, 76, of Keansburg died April 25 in Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Keansburg for the last 35 years. She was a coffee shop manager for Forte Holding’s Inc., New York, N.Y., for 40 years before retiring. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Fowles, in 1980. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Toni Fowles of Howell, and Robert and Mary Lynn Fowles of Seaford; a sister, Helen Giaramita of Staten Island, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Interment was in the Forest Green Park Cemetery in Morganville.

MELVIN RITTER, 81, of Manalapan died April 29 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, he lived in Lakewood and Elizabeth, and in Manalapan for the last 24 years. He was a graduate of Rutgers University, Newark, and worked as a salesman for Liccardi Motors In Greenbrook for 15 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Army Air Corps and a veteran of World War II, serving from 1941 to 1946. He was a member of the Covered Bridge J.W.V. Post No. 536, a past member of the Covered Bridge Housing Committee, and a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold for many years. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; his brother, Dr. Edward Ritter; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Interment was in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.

DAVID C. MARDEN SR., 74, of Freehold Township died April 30 at his home. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he resided in Phoenix, Ariz., before moving to Freehold Township in 1968. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1946-1953 in the Korean War. He worked as a systems engineer for Bellcore Co., Piscataway, for 17 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Toastmasters of America, Greater Monmouth Chapter, and an amateur radio enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. Morse; two sons and daughters-in-law, David C. Jr. and Karen Marden of Verona, and Richard A. and Denise Marden of Manalapan; and four grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. KEVIN LEE SCHELLET, 45, of Manalapan died April 28 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Plainfield, he lived in Manalapan most of his life. He graduated from Manalapan High School in 1975 and was a carpenter for A Top Construction in Manalapan for the last two years. He was predeceased by his father, Wilbur. Surviving are his mother, Shirley of Toms River; a brother, Jeffrey of Alaska; a sister, Pamela Hawkins of Toms River; nieces and nephews; and his beloved Kathleen. Interment was in Rosedale Cemetery in Linden.

RUSSELL JOHN HOWELL, 61, of Freehold Township died May 1 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Queens Village, N.Y., he lived in Old Bridge before moving to Freehold Township 31 years ago. He was a limousine driver for Stagecoach Limousine, Marlboro. He was a charter member of the Freehold team in the Monmouth County Senior Softball League, where he was a player and coach. He was an umpire in the Freehold Borough Little League and the Freehold Township Little League. He was a private pilot. Surviving are his wife, Edwina Weis Howell; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Dana Howell of Howell; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Joseph Corson of Tinton Falls; a brother, Robert Howell of Florida; and three grandchildren. MARY STOLL, 88, of Keansburg died May 1 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, she lived in Freehold for many years and in Spring Lake Heights before moving to Keansburg one year ago. She was a seamstress before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip L. Stoll, in 1978. Surviving are a son, Phillip L. Stoll Jr. of Howell; and a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Anthony Tumminia, Spring Lake Heights. MARY V. DEMETSKI SZABATIN, 90, of East Brunswick died April 22 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Steve, died in 1997. Surviving are a son, Stephen J. of Little Egg Harbor; two daughters, Barbara M. Masterson of Columbus and Arlene A. Biesiada of Englishtown; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

MARIE EMANUEL STEO, 82, of the Toms River section of Dover, formerly of Spotswood and Old Bridge, died April 20 in Bay Lea Village Care Center, Toms River. Her husband, John, died in 1982. Surviving are a son, Joseph Steo of Staten Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Sandra Chieffo of Toms River; four sisters, Beatrice Piccioli, Josephine LaRusso and Nancy Regan, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Antoinette Comparetto of the Morganville section of Marlboro; and five grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, N.Y. ALBERT YONCAK, 61, of Old Bridge, formerly of Marlboro, died April 20 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Daley Yoncak; three sons, Scott of Medford, Alex of Jamesburg and Kurt of Old Bridge; a daughter, Kerry of Old Bridge; his stepmother, Virginia Yoncak; two brothers, Stanley of Marlboro and Richard of Freehold; and seven grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
