      ANNA T. ASKIN, 86, of Freehold Township died June 10 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y, she had lived in Ridgewood, Queens, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township in 1993. Mrs. Askin was a secretary for F&S Central, Green Point, N.Y., for 10 years, retiring in 1982. She was a retired 30-year member of the Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Queens, N.Y.; and a member of the Freehold-Manalapan Area Senior Citizen Center. Mrs. Askin was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, who died in 1966. Surviving are two daughters, Clara Askin and Ann Lando, both of Freehold; a sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Victor Silvani of Queens; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Queens.

      DAWN M. BECHTOL, 28, of Howell died June 11 at home. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Eatontown, Howell, and Freehold Township before moving back to Howell. Miss Bechtol was an overnight stock clerk at Wal-Mart, Howell and North Brunswick, and was recently awarded "Employee of the Month." She was a graduate of Freehold Township High School. Miss Bechtol is survived by her parents, Rosemary Wilson of Freehold Township and Garry Bechtol of Ocean Grove; a daughter, Jessica, at home; a sister, Tina Bechtol of Barnegat; her maternal grandmother, Leone L. Wilson of Howell; a niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were officiated by the Rev. Harvey Kelley. Interment was private. Memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey, 501 John Fitch Way, Trenton 08611.

      CLAUDINE H. PICORIELLO, 53, of Freehold Township died June 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township 13 years ago. Ms. Picoriello worked as an ophthalmologist technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Queens, N.Y. Surviving are two sisters, two aunts, an uncle, and several cousins and friends. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn.

      TERRY SHAPIRO, whose son lives in Manalapan, died June 11 at Virtua Memorial Medical Center, Mount Holly, after a brief battle with cancer. Mrs. Shapiro worked for many years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in East Orange and was the head bookkeeper at the Belle Mead office of the federal government, from which she retired in 1985. She was a member of Adeth Emmanuel Synagogue in Mount Laurel; a former president of B’nai B’rith in Union; and volunteers for many other causes including the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Virtua Memorial Medical Center, Hadassah Sisterhood, and local nursing homes where she conducted Friday night services. In 2002 she was voted Woman of the Year for Hadassah. Mrs. Shapiro was predeceased by her husband, Nathan, in 1981. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Ellen Shapiro of Bedford, N.H., Jeffrey and Nita Shapiro of Manalapan, and Dr. Barry and Carol Shapiro of Vineland; and eight grandchildren. A graveside ceremony was held at Beth Israel Memorial Cemetery, Woodbridge.

      LILABY "DANNY" WARREN, 63, of Manalapan died June 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of Manalapan. Mr. Warren was a financial analyst for IBM, Dayton, where he was employed for 28 years before his retirement 10 years ago. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Ministries, Sayreville. He was a licensed mentor for the mentor Network of New Jersey and a member of the Walter J. Conley Elks Lodge No. 1379, Freehold. Mr. Warren is survived by his wife, Diane Ryols Warren; a son, Darrand Ryols of Lakewood; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Gregory Galloway of Cheltenham, Md.; a sister, Rosetta Vaughn of Cliffwood Beach; and four grandchildren. The viewing and services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

      THEODORE W. JACKEL, 64, of Cream Ridge died June 11 at Bartley Manor Health Care, Jackson. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Howell for 30 years before moving to Cream Ridge five years ago. Mr. Jackel worked as a tool and die maker for Mespco Co. Inc., New Brunswick, for 20 years, retiring in 1988. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, in 2000. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Holly Jackel of Browns Mills; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Lakomy of Cream Ridge, and Diane and Jerry Hayes of Lacy; two brothers, Walter Jackel of Mahopac, N.Y., and Roy Jackel of Williamstown; a sister, Carol Pugh of Queens, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Interment was held at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick.

      GENEVIEVE BECKER YOUNG, 81, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died June 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., she had lived in Newark before moving to Port Monmouth 33 years ago. Mrs. Young was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Young, in 1972; and a daughter, Genevieve Tamarato, in 1982. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Rose Marie Young of Manalapan, and Kevin and Donna Young of Jackson; four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and William August of Port Monmouth, Arlene and Frank Corso of Hazlet, Carolyn and Joseph Sherman of Keansburg, and Debra and Harry Paule of the Leonardo section of Middletown; 35 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

      MARY D. DONEGAN COOKE of the Morganville section of Marlboro died June 5. Born in Scranton, Pa., she had lived in Newark and Bloomfield before moving to Morganville 28 years ago. Mrs. Cooke was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1975; and a son, Frank Jr., in 1995. Mrs. Cooke is survived by a son, Robert of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a daughter, Anne Marie of Morganville; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

      EILEEN C. MANNING, 78, of Freehold Township died June 6 at Freehold Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, she had lived in Atlantic City before moving to Freehold Township seven years ago. Ms. Manning was a secretary in Newark before she retired. Surviving are four sons, Michael of Somerville, Raymond of Little Silver, Edward of Clinton and James of Asbury Park; a daughter, Eileen Farley of Oakhurst; a brother, Vincent Gorman of Barnegat; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Interment was private.

      ARTHUR DAVID BOXER, 78, of Marlboro died June 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he lived in the Bronx and Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Marlboro 15 years ago. He was a World War II Army veteran. He owned a restaurant supply company for many years. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Alan, in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Cecile; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lori of Tinton Falls; and a granddaughter. Interment was in Mount Sinai Cemetery, Marlboro.

      GUY E. LAYTON, 80, of Marlboro died June 2 at Care One, Holmdel. He was born in Long Branch and lived in Colts Neck before moving to Marlboro in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army, 1341st Engineer Battalion, during World War II. He was a glass worker at Brockway Glass Co., Freehold Township, where he was employed for 27 years before retiring in 1984. He was a former member of the Old Brick Reformed Church, Marlboro. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria M. Layton, in 1998. Surviving are a son, Alan D. Layton of Jackson; a daughter, Pamela A. Butler of New Windsor, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Layton of Colts Neck; two sisters, Jane Millen of Breezewood, Pa. and Grace Sheppler of Fort Myers, Fla; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Interment was in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

      PATRICK JOHN SHEMA, 42, of Bayville, died June 2 at home. He was born in Dubois, Pa., and lived in Jackson before moving to Bayville. He was employed at Frequency Engineering Labs, Farmingdale. Surviving are a brother, Joseph R. Shema of Freehold Township, and several uncles, aunts and cousins in Pennsylvania.       NORMA VILLANO, 78, of Manalapan died June 3 at home. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she lived in the Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan 36 years ago. She was a secretary in the advertising department of the New York Daily News for eight years, and an executive secretary for Ben S. Loeb Co. in Fairfield for 10 years before retiring in 1989. She started the St. Thomas More Women’s Bowling League and was active at bingo and other church functions. She is survived by her husband, Gartano (Tom); two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Patricia of Toms River and Gerald and Colleen of Bordentown; a sister, Jean Piekutowski of Mahopac, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.

      ALBERT J. GOMOLKA, 85, of the Morgan section of Sayreville died June 3 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was the owner and operator of Gomolka’s Auto Body, Morgan. Surviving are his wife, Anne F. Benjamin Gomolka; four sons, Albert Gomolka Jr. of Hillsboro, Matthew Gomolka of the Parlin section of Sayreville, David Gomolka of Manalapan and Barry Gomolka of Staten Island, N.Y.; two daugh­ters, Marianne Rand of South Amboy and Susan Gomolka of East Brunswick; three sis­ters, Sister Mary Gomolka of Mount St. Mary Academy, Watchung, and Frances Dzielak and Edna Weinman, both of South Amboy; and nine grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin.
