OLGA ZARKEVICH, 98, of Freehold died July 15 at John L. Montgomery Care Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Zarkevich was born in Russia and had lived in Freehold for 55 years. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Jackson. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore, who died in 1977. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Church, followed by interment at St. Vladimir’s Cemetery, Jackson.

JOANNE L. MONAHAN, 59, of the Morganville section of Marlboro died July 1 at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia. Born in Jersey City, she was raised in Bayonne and lived in various locations around the country before moving to Morganville 25 years ago. Mrs. Monahan was a teacher at Collier High School, Wickatunk section of Marlboro, for the past 14 years, where she developed and implemented innovative child care and human services programs. Mrs. Monahan is survived by her husband, Patrick J. Jr.; two sons, Patrick J. III of Freehold Township and Sean K. of Chicago; a daughter, Megan E. Monahan of Morganville; a brother, John O’Neill of Jersey City; a sister, Janet Genatt of Old Bridge; and two grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Colts Neck.

JANICE E. JONES, 72, of Southern Pines, N.C., formerly of Freehold died July 10 at St. Joseph of the Pines, Southern Pines. Mrs. Jones was born in Neptune. She was a secretary for the New Jersey Department of Transportation before her retirement. She was also a volunteer with the Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, William; a daughter and son-in-law, Lela K. and Alan R. Spekin of Brockton, Mass.; a son, William E. of Southern Pines; two granddaughters; several nieces; and one nephew. Graveside services were held at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 136A Bow St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.

JOANN LAZZARA, 49, of Freehold died July 20 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Freehold 11 years ago. Mrs. Lazzara was a banquet manager for Vans Greystone Manor, Freehold Township, where she was employed for the past eight years. She was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1454 Auxiliary, Freehold. Mrs. Lazzara is survived by her husband, Vincent; two sons, Thomas and Michael Venetucci, and a daughter, Kristin Venetucci, all at home; her mother, Eleanor Giangrande of Freehold; two brothers, Peter Giangrande of Old Bridge and Robert Giangrande of Fort Lee; and two grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

KEITH PATRICK LAVDEN, 12, of Howell died July 14 at home. Born in Lakewood, he was a lifelong resident of Howell. Keith was a seventh-grade student at Howell Middle School North. He played baseball in the North Howell Little League. Surviving are his parents, Walter and Paula Nocera Lavden; a sister, Gabrielle Anna; his maternal grandmother, Carol Nocera of Howell; his uncles and aunts, Jeff and Margarita Palomo, and Kevin, Donna and Ann Lavden; and his cousins, Ashley, John, Nicky, Margarita and Christopher.

IRENE SLAWGORODSKY, 92, of Howell died July 20 at home. Born in Russia, she came to the United States in 1949, settled in New York City, and moved to Howell in 1965. Mrs. Slawgorodsky was educated as a forest engineer in Russia and worked as an artist and painter in New York City, retiring in 1972. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, who died in 1978. Mrs. Slawgorodsky is survived by one nephew; one niece; two grandnephews and one grandniece. Services were held at St. Vladimir’s Russian Orthodox Church, Jackson, with the Rev. Boris Kizenko officiating, followed by interment in St. Vladimir’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Jackson.

ALFRED DeLUCIA, 87, of Freehold Township died July 22 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in North Bergen, he had been a longtime resident of Freehold Township. Mr. DeLucia was employed as a yard foreman for Freehold Lumber for more than 35 years. After his retirement, he became a crossing guard for the Freehold Township Police Department. He was a charter member and former chief of the East Freehold Fire Company; a member of the Men’s Bowling League of Howell Lanes; and a member of the Redman Organization of Freehold. Mr. DeLucia is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary; a son, Joseph of Freehold; a daughter, Phyllis DeLucia; two brothers, Carmen DeLucia and Domenic DeLucia; and three sisters, Margaret Crimi, Nancy Fisler and Genevieve Desher, all of Freehold Township. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Chapel, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

TRACY DONECHIE GRIFFIN, 42, of Buffalo Junction, Va., formerly of Freehold Township, died July 22 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C. Surviving are her husband, Timothy Griffin; a son, Thomas Pofahl; a daughter, Tiffany Pofahl; her parents, James and Dorothy Donechie Jr. of Freehold Township; two brothers, Craig and James Donechie III; two sisters, Jamie Herman and Lora Altman; one niece and four nephews. Mrs. Griffin requested that her body be donated to Duke University Hospital. A private service will be held for the immediate family.

FELICISIMA ARENAL SANTOS, 83, of Freehold Township died July 6 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in the Philippines, she came to the United States in 1981 and lived in Howell before moving to Freehold Township 13 years ago. Mrs. Santos was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her husband, Gaudencio M., who died in 1977. Surviving are five sons, Willie of Howell, Pete and Flor, both of the Philippines, and Teddy and Joe, both of Jackson; two daughters, Fely Perez of Jackson and Angieh Santos of Freehold Township; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.

JOHN SKOUROGLOS, 92, of Manalapan died July 23 at home. Born in Andros, Greece, he lived in Fort Lee before moving to Manalapan eight years ago. Mr. Skouroglos was a self-employed restaurateur for 50 years, retiring in 1975. He was a communicant of Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel; and a former member of the American Hellenic Society, Jersey City, and the Elks Club of Fort Lee. Mr. Skouroglos is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bertha Woodruff; a sister-in-law, Helen Vines of Manalapan; one nephew; one niece; and two grandnephews. A funeral Mass was offered at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

MARY JANE BIGLEY, 95, of Howell died July 24 at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in New York City, she had lived in Union City, Belmar and Freehold before moving to The Villages, Howell, in 1999. Mrs. Bigley was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her first husband, Henry Noble, who died in 1932; her second husband, Thomas F. Bigley, in 1963; and a son, Henry F. Noble, in 1945. She is survived by a son, George T. Noble of Howell; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Veronica’s Roman Catholic Church, Howell, followed by interment in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.

DAVID DAVIS, 65, of Freehold died July 6 at home. Born in Hartsville, S.C., he had lived in Somerset before moving to Freehold 27 years ago. Mr. Davis was a construction worker. He was also employed at the Freehold Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for 12 years, and at Jersey Freeze, Freehold, for 10 years. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Ollie Key Davis; a daughter, Mildred Davis; his mother, Georgiana Davis; two stepsons, Larry Brown and Chris Tatum; three stepdaughters, Marjia McCleod, Barbara Myrick and Linda Love; a brother, Thomas Davis; two sisters, Leola Eddis and Irene Davis; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

RUSSELL F. TERHUNE, 49, of Middletown died July 20 as a result of injuries from a plane crash in Jackson. Born in Red Bank, he lived in Middletown most of his life. He was a sheet metal worker at Bonland, Wayne, for 29 years. He was a member of Sheetmetal Local No. 25, Carlstadt. He was an active airplane enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 29 years and his daughter, Nancy Hock Terhune and Danielle Terhune of Middletown; his parents, Frederick and Wilma Terhune of Farmingdale; his brother, Earl Terhune of Jackson; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Rye of the Belford section of Middletown, Terrie Carney of San Diego, Calif., and Star and Stephen Krist of Farmingdale; and several nieces and nephews.

ESTELLE MACKIEWICZ, 88, of Hazlet died July 18 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Keyport for 10 years and moved to Hazlet two years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Mackiewicz in 1983. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Barbara Mackiewicz of Long Branch; her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Harold Dale of Hazlet; her sister, Irene Moscinski of Jersey City; four grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
