MARIE STILES, 69, of Marlboro died March 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Rahway, she was a resident of Marlboro for the past 47 years. She was a member of Old Brick Reformed Church of Marlboro, where she was the founder of the My School preschool program. Prior to her retirement from teaching at My School, she was an executive secretary for Quinn and Boden Book Manufacturing, Rahway. She was also a school bus driver for the Monmouth Heights-Kinderland Nursery. She was a former member of St. John’s Greek-Russian Orthodox Church, Rahway. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Nelson F., retired warden of the Monmouth County Correctional Institution; a son, Nelson F. Jr. of Oceanport; three daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Stiles of Marlboro, Linda Stiles of North Glenn, Colo., and Debra and Raymond Gray of Freehold; a brother, John Bodnar of Highlands; a sister, Margaret Abatte of Clark; and two grandchildren. WILLIAM H. KNEBBE, 83, of Freehold Township died March 18 at Victoria Healthcare Center, Matawan. Born in Long Island, N.Y., he had lived in Freehold Township for the past 40 years. He was formerly employed with Bell Labs, Holmdel. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Knebbe. DIAMOND PETTINCKI, 90, of Freehold Township died March 20 at Freehold Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Freehold. Born in North Bergen, she was a longtime resident of the Freehold area. Mrs. Pettincki was predeceased by her husband, Nick; a daughter, Josephine DeGuzman; three brothers, Louis DeLucia, Albert DeLucia and Arthur DeLucia; and a sister, Catherine Castronova. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Nick and Patricia of Freehold Township, and James and Suzan of Millstone; two daughters and a son-in-law, Antoinette and Mickey McChesney of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mary Zampella of Freehold Township; three brothers, Alfred DeLucia, Dominic DeLucia and Carmen DeLucia; three sisters, Genevieve Decher, Margaret Crimi and Nancy Fisler; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. JENI LEIGH PIERCE, 31, of Red Bank, formerly of Colts Neck, died March 21 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She was a graduate of Marlboro High School, where she sang in the choir. She continued her study of music at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. She is survived by her parents, Nancy and Marc Pierce of Colts Neck; a sister and brother-in-law, Heather Pierce-Stigall and Stephen Stigall, of Devon, Pa.; her grandparents, Frances Vanderveer of Freehold, and Doris and Stanley Pierce of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and one niece and one nephew. PAULINE RILLER, 66, of Englishtown died March 24 at home. She was a lifelong resident of Englishtown. She was a private duty nurse in the Monmouth County area before her retirement. She was a graduate of Jamesburg High School. She is survived by her husband, George S. of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Gloria Riller and Cheryl Riller-Gonzalez, both of Englishtown; a brother, William Ensley Jr. of Englishtown; a sister, Corrine Davis of Millstone; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. ROBERT BROWN, 68, of Freehold Township died March 25 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in West Virginia. He was a laborer in construction before his retirement. He is survived by a sister, Ruby Ruttiero of Somerville. BEN KRAVITZ, 94, of Ewing died March 25 at Greenwood House, Ewing. Born in Philadelphia, he retired to Florida in 1972 and relocated to New Jersey in 2001. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anne; a daughter, Marcy Brahin of Freehold; a brother, Milton of Philadelphia; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and many other relatives and friends. SLATTERY JR., 62, of Freehold Township died March 27. Born in Freehold, he had lived in the area for most of his life. He was a disabled Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, enlisting in the service in 1958 and becoming disabled in 1962. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. He was a member of the American Legion Post 54; the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1454; and the Cpl. Philip A. Reynolds Detachment, Marine Corps League, all of Freehold. He is survived by his father, Frederick Sr.; two sisters, Dorothy Slattery and Catherine Funkhouser, both of Chino Valley, Ariz.; a brother, Dennis of Spring Hill, Fla.; an uncle, Todd Slattery of Freehold Township; an aunt, Margaret Riley of Keyport; two nieces; four nephews; and two grandnieces. EMIL KATZ of Sacramento, Calif., died March 28. Born in New York City, he had lived in the Freehold area for more than 50 years before moving to California with his son, Martin, four years ago. He retired from the Red Bank branch of the U.S. Postal Service. He also was a farmer in Marlboro. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served on the Marlboro Township Board of Education and was a past president of the local American Postal Workers Union and the Union of Postal Supervisors. He was predeceased by his wives, Mildred and Carmen. Surviving are two sons, Martin and Leonard, and one grandchild. AUDREY FLOCK ORGO, 76, died March 29 at Old Bridge Manor, Old Bridge. She was born in Colts Neck, where she lived for most of her life. She was a lifelong member of the Colts Neck Reformed Church. She was a graduate of Red Bank High School; Georgian Court College, Lakewood; and the Katharine Gibbs School, New York. She is survived by her husband, Ernest T. of Newark; a son, Thomas II of Colts Neck; three daughters, Marlena Orgo of Newark, and Audrey Ahn and Cristina Wyatt, both of Colts Neck; two brothers, William R. Flock and C. Richard Flock, both of Colts Neck; and seven grandchildren. JULIUS R. CARCHESIO, 46, of Manalapan, died March 30 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Neptune, he was a lifelong resident of Manalapan. Mr. Carchesio was employed with the family business, Carchesio Farms, Manalapan. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown. Surviving are his parents, Joseph and Electra of Manalapan; a son, Julian of Belmar; three brothers, Robert, Joseph and Michael, all of Manalapan; and a sister, Mildred Citarella of Freehold Township. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. CHARLES J. REYNOLDS, 77, of Hazlet died March 31 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York, he lived in Hazlet for the past 45 years. He was personnel director of human resources at General Motors, New York, for 25 years, retiring in 1976. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Middletown. He was predeceased by a son, Charles Reynolds Jr., in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Annamay Kelly-Reynolds of Hazlet; three daughters, Kelly Irizarry of Lakewood, Patricia Mandica of Farmingdale, and Bejay Pollard of Woodbridge; two sons, Terrance Reynolds of Perth Amboy, and Sean Reynolds of Old Bridge; his brother, Louis Reynolds of Mays Landing; three sisters, Winifred Weiner of Washington, D.C.; Catherine Reynolds of Spring Hill, Fla.; and Shiela McGowan of Jericho, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. JOSEPH GALATRO, 78, of Freehold Township died March 9 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had been a resident of Freehold Township for the past eight years. He retired from Spielman Chevrolet, Brooklyn, in 1985 after working there for 35 years. After coming to Freehold, he worked at Lowes Theater, Freehold Township, for three years. He was predeceased by his wife, Julie, who died in 1998. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Christina of Freehold Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Angelo Zaffuto of Ozone Park, N.Y.; a brother, Anthony of Middle Village, N.Y.; a sister, Frances Miller of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. EUGENE F. CRODDICK, 81, of Freehold Township, died April 2 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in South Amboy, he lived in Marlboro before moving to Freehold Township more than 30 years ago. Mr. Croddick was the founder and president of JFC Electronics Inc., Marlboro. He served as honorary chairman of Collier Services, Wickatunk section of Marlboro; and was a member of the Navy League of the United States. He was a past president and trustee emeritus of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore, and a member of the Christian Brothers Academy Century Club, Lincroft. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. Mr. Croddick is survived by his wife, Florence Hanaway Croddick; a son, John F. of Wickatunk; four daughters, Jean Avery of Spring Lake, Patricia Delatush of Sea Girt, Mary Snyder of Marlboro and Margaret Lempka of Farmingdale; a sister, Marjorie Molnar Wolters of Whiting; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by interment at the parish cemetery. |
