FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — When pupils begin classes at the Eisenhower Middle School and at the Marshall W. Errickson School this fall, they will be greeted by new principals. But neither one is new to the district. One is a promotion, and the other is a transfer.

Eisenhower will welcome Sandra Brower, formerly the assistant principal at the Barkalow Middle School. Errickson will welcome Carolyn Kossack, formerly the principal of Eisenhower.

Brower said her goals for the coming year are to see that the students of Eisen-hower continue to excel academically and to foster the growth necessary to keep the school competitive.

"When I look back on my experiences at the Barkalow Middle School, I realize how truly fortunate I was to work with such an outstanding school community. I will miss working with the Barkalow students, their parents and the staff," she said.

Kossack, who served as assistant principal at Eisenhower for four years before being named principal in January 2001, said her hopes for Errickson in the coming year include working with students, teachers and parents to create a team that will continue to improve student achievement.

"I am elated that I have been afforded the opportunity to serve as the principal of the Errickson School. While I have thoroughly enjoyed working at the Eisenhower Middle School for the past six years, I am excited about working at an elementary level. I have developed many relationships at Eisenhower and I look forward to doing the same at Errickson. I believe that change is good and I welcome the opportunity to expand my Freehold Township family," Kossack said.

Brower completed her undergraduate degree in elementary education/English and master’s degree in educational administration at Georgian Court College, Lakewood.

She is currently working toward her doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She joined the Freehold Township school district in 2000 from the Spring Lake Heights school district, where she served as assistant principal and business administrator.

Kossack received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Montclair State University and her master’s degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She is currently working toward her doctoral degree at Rutgers.
