Obituaries Mr. Dirito, 69, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died June 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in West New York, he resided in Port Monmouth for several years. He was a maintenance worker at Bayshore Community Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1996. He served with the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Antoinette Florio Dirito; a daughter, Nicole Dirito of Hazlet; a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Josephine Dirito of Saddle Brook; two sisters, Anna Hartman of Long Island, N.Y., and Sarah Variano of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren. A funeral service will be June 23 at 10 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Entombment will be at Fair View Mausoleum, Middletown. Charles W. Scott Mr. Scott, 51, of Middletown died June 14 at home. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Middletown most of his life. He was a self-employed contractor in the Middletown area for the past 20 years. Mr. Scott served with the U.S. Air Force Intelligence Unit during the Vietnam War era. He was an avid skier. He is survived by a son, Charles W. Scott III of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Douglas Snyder of Charlotte, N.C.; his parents, Arthur and Margaret Patterson Scott of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Thomas Morin and Mary and Michael McCauley, all of Middletown, and Barbara and Ronald Blume of Plano, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur C. and Susan Scott Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; and two grandchildren. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Victor Rich Tritto Mr. Tritto, 59, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, died June 12 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he resided in Bayonne prior to moving to Cliffwood Beach 31 years ago. He retired in 1996 as a supervisor at Telcordia Tech, Piscataway. Prior to that, he was a supervisor at AT&T/Bellcorp, Livingston, for 31 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael J. and Sadie Sapio Tritto. He is survived by his wife, Jackolyn R. Doran Tritto; two sons, Michael J. Tritto of Cliffwood Beach, and Victor R. Tritto Jr. of Matawan; and a sister, Donna Teele of North Carolina. Kennedy Jr. Mr. Kennedy of Pocono Lake, Pa., died June 13 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. Born in South Amboy, he resided in Matawan before moving to Pocono Lake four years ago. He was a foreman at E.I. DuPont & Co., Photo Products Division, Parlin, for 35 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Kennedy served with the U.S. Army as a member of the 796th Military Police Battalion. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Kennedy; and three sisters, Marie O’Leary, Margaret Hansen and Ruth Dohan. Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Emmons Kennedy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice K. and Dane Traill of Williamstown, Barbara and Steve Kennedy of Forked River, and Colleen K. and Scott Nelson of Howell; three brothers, James Kennedy of Ocala, Fla., Robert Kennedy of Hawley, Pa., and Frank Kennedy of South Amboy; three sisters, Elizabeth Kudelka of South Amboy, Helen Kovacs of Perth Amboy, and Patricia Saunders of Virginia; and eight grandchildren. Victor Walter Mead Mr. Mead, 49, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died June 17 at home. Born in Astoria, N.Y., he resided in Atlantic Highlands before moving to Port Monmouth 10 years ago. He was employed with the Middletown Township Road Department the past 15 years. Mr. Mead served with the U.S. Army. He was past commander of the American Legion, Leonardo New Jersey Post No. 338, and a member of the Sons of The American Legion. He was predeceased by his father, Victor Mead; and a granddaughter, Miranda Mead. He resided in the Middletown area most of his life. He was a self-employed certified public accountant. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a charter member of the Middletown Elks, Middletown Lions Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. He was also an ex-township clerk in Middletown, and former member of the Township Committee. He was predeceased by a brother, James Carroll. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Adrienne Herr Carroll; a daughter, Kelly Ann Carroll of Middletown; three sons, Kevin Sean Carroll and Charles John Carroll, both Middletown, and John Christopher Carroll of Red Bank; and a sister, Patricia Schweizer of Middletown. He was a labor foreman at a local labor union, retiring in 1977. He was a Third Degree, Knights of Columbus, Keyport. He was predeceased by two sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Pacansky Lauro of Aberdeen; two daughters, Madeline Katko of South Brunswick, and Cecelia Berg of Brick; three sisters, Jane Artelli of Keyport, Ann DaPolito of Woodbridge, and Nancy Lopez of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Born in Homestead, Pa., he resided in Pittsburgh prior to moving to Middletown seven months ago. He was a retired scheduler/foreman at U.S. Steel Company, Homestead, Pa., where he was employed 35 years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 2179; Leonardo section of Middletown, former member of VFW Post No. 373, Pittsburgh; and a 35-year member of the United Steel Workers Union. He was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve L. Steiner Grib, in 2001; and a daughter, Gloria Grib, in 1979. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and James Nordgaard of Middletown, and June and Nicholas Fiamongo of Culpepper, Va.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William and Martha Grib, and David Grib, all of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was a parts inspector at Carl L. Norden Army and Navy, New York City. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Werner M. Hoer in 1976. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Charlotte. He enjoyed bingo, the Yankees, bowling, and big band music. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Nasso in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Madeline Manzione Castry; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and William Murphy of the River Plaza section of Middletown; a sister, Rita Castry of Amsterdam, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
