Julia Lovejoy

Mrs. Lovejoy, 86, of Manalapan died May 16 at home. Born in Queens, N.Y., she had lived in Manalapan for seven years. She was predeceased in 1960 by her husband, Robert. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Marie Lovejoy of Manalapan, and James and Joan Lovejoy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan, followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

Marie M. Olivieri

Mrs. Olivieri of Howell died May 31 at Holmdel Convalescent Center, Holmdel. Born in Fairview, she had lived in Old Bridge before moving to Howell 13 years ago. She had worked in the purchasing department of Revlon Inc., Edison, and was also a former millinery model in New York City. She was a past president of the Surrey Downs Ladies Auxiliary, Howell, and was active in the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) administration at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale. She was predeceased in 1989 by her husband, John J. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, J. Chris and Kathie Olivieri of Matawan, and Craig and Barbara Olivieri of Old Bridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy O. and Miley Bull of Fairfield, Conn.; and seven grandchildren. The Rite of Committal will be held at 8:30 a.m. on June 5 at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, 958 Adelphia Road (Route 524), Adelphia section of Howell, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Church, with the Rev. Michael Vona officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale 07727; or the Connecticut Audubon Society, 2325 Burr St., Fairfield, CT 06824.

Mary Ferrara Bittar

Mrs. Bittar, 81, of Manalapan, died May 27 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in Jackson before moving to Manalapan seven and a half years ago. She was a member of the Manalapan Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Bittar was predeceased in March 2002 by her husband, Thomas J. Bittar. Sur­viving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Garcia of Manalapan, and Patricia and Michael Sullivan of Carteret; two sisters, Pauline Falanga of Naples, Fla., and Elizabeth Mazzone of Queens, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Funeral services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Par­lin section of Sayreville, followed by burial at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

Anthony Iliadis

Mr. Iliadis, 75, of Freehold died May 31 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in the Ukraine, he had lived in Matawan before moving to Freehold in 1947. He was the proprietor of Tony’s Freehold Grill from 1962 until 1986, when he retired. Prior to that, he had been employed at the Matawan Diner and the A&M Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 1454, Freehold, and was also an avid fan of harness racing. Surviving are his wife, Sofia Kifnidis Iliadis; three sons, Thomas A. Iliadis of Freehold, Peter A. Iliadis of Jackson and Dr. Elias Iliadis of Moorestown; two brothers, Peter Iliadis of Athens, Greece, and Christos Iliadis of New York City; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902.

Roberta Lauro

Mrs. Lauro, 56, of Lakewood, died June 5 at Hackensack Medical Center, Hackensack. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Man­alapan for 30 years before moving to Lakewood two years ago. She was a computer assistant for Academy Pest Control, Howell, for four years. Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Robert Lauro; a son, Robert Lauro Jr. of Jack­son; a daughter, Stephanie Lauro-Bromberg of Manalapan; and two grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood. D’Elia Funeral Home, Lakewood, was in charge of ar­rangements.

Robert J. Freudenberger Sr.

Mr. Freudenberger, 85, of Marlboro died May 14 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Millvale, Pa., he had moved to Queens Village, N.Y., as a child and had lived there until 1941, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during World War II in Panama, the Philippines and Korea, rising to the rank of staff sergeant in the Signal Corps. After the war, he had resided in Port Chester, N.Y., Daytona, Fla., and then in New Rochelle, N.Y., before moving to Marlboro in 1955. Prior to retiring in 1974, he was a switchman for New Jersey Bell Telephone Co. After retirement, he divided his time between his homes in Marlboro and Anna Maria Island, Fla., where he enjoyed boating and going to the beach. A member of the Colts Neck Baptist Church, he and his wife had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary there on May 9. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry Freudenberger Jr. and Ralph Freudenberger. Surviving are his wife, Helen Haglind Freudenberger; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Carol C. Freudenberger Jr. of Marlboro and St. Augustine, Fla.; and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held at Colts Neck Baptist Church, followed by burial at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret L. Bilquist

Mrs. Bilquist, 75, of Freehold Township, died June 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, after a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Ridgway, Pa., she had lived in Brockway, Pa., and Lapel, Ind., before set­tling in Freehold in 1958. Throughout her life, she worked various part-time jobs but was mostly a full-time homemaker. She was an ac­tive member of the First United Methodist Church of Freehold, where she had served as an usher captain and communion chairperson, and also belonged to the church’s Phoebe Women’s Circle. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jennifer Bilquist of South Toms River; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Warren Smith of Howell; two sisters, Maxine Gottardi of Margate, Fla., and Virginia DePanfilis of Ridgway; and three grandchil­dren. Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Myrna Bethke officiating. Interment followed at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 91 W. Main St., Freehold 07728.

Charles A. Della Pietro

Mr. Della Pietro, 82, of Hazlet died June 5 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Matawan, he was a lifelong resident of Hazlet. Mr. Della Pietro was a tile foreman at Adco Tile Co., Keyport, retiring in 1975. He was predeceased by a brother, Fred Della Pietro. He is survived by four daughters, Doreen Chapman of Malta, N.Y., Dody Swaffer of Kingsland, Ga., Toni Burger of Newton, Pa., and Dina Marie Sansone of Brielle; a son, Anthony Della Pietro of Jackson; three sisters, Phelomena Bottiglieri of Keyport, Anna Pardue of Eatontown, and Rachel Allocco of Holmdel; two brothers, Anthony Della Pietro of Marlboro and Frank Della Pietro of Holmdel; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Burial took place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.
