Auditions

Brookdale Shakespeare Ensemble will hold auditions for its production of "As You Like It." Auditions are open to all Brookdale Community College students as well as the community. Actors will be cold reading from the text. Call (732) 224-2411 to be placed on the list. Auditions are scheduled for May 2 from 3-6 p.m., and May 5-6 at 6 p.m. at the Brookdale Performing Arts Center, Lincroft.

Production dates are three weekends in July.

Count Basie Theatre’s Cool School in collaboration with American Jazz Venues will hold auditions for a summer jazz program for young adults. Auditions will be held May 8 at 10 a.m. at the Count Basie Theatre’s Cool School, 105A Monmouth St., Red Bank. There is a $10 audition fee.

The program will use the teaching techniques of American Jazz Venues, led by Jazz Hall of Fame member Clem DeRosa. The program is open to 20 young adults, ages 12-17, who successfully pass an audition on trumpet, trombone, sax, bass, piano, drums or guitar. The program will begin July 12 and run through Aug. 22. At the conclusion of the program the participants will travel to a Manhattan recording studio where they will be professionally recorded. Each student will receive 30 hours of instruction; tuition is $850 per student.

Marlboro Players will hold open auditions May 11 and May 13 from 7-10 p.m. at the Frank J. Dugan Elementary School, Topanemus Road, Marlboro, for the summer production of "Magical Moments on Broadway," directed by Joseph Cantaffa. All ages are welcome, but space is limited. Those auditioning should prepare 16 bars of a Broadway show tune and bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No tapes or CDs will be allowed. Those auditioning should also be prepared to dance. Show dates are the end of July.

The Premier Theatre Company’s summer lineup this year will be "Anything Goes," June 11-27; "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," July 9-25; and "Oklahoma," Aug. 6-22. Auditions for adults and high school students will be held May 13-14 at 7 p.m. and May 15 at 11 a.m. Auditions for children will be held May 21 at 7 p.m. Details: (732) 774-7827.
